Stick Cricket - about to be released [Archive]

Guys,

Testing is still underway for the new release of Stick Cricket and a link is provided below for people willing to participate. I'm writing this now as I had to wait until September before advising of the official test link to all. If everyone had a blast of it the server would have copped a pasting, but now its September, go for your life.

We are releasing the full version to coincide with the ICC Champions Trophy which begins very soon.

We hope you all enjoy it again, some of the players have "put on weight" but the fun is still there. Suggestions are still warranted so please continue to post them to Col or myself.

Game is a bit too easy I reckon. To play the ICC Trophy, you only play 4 matches. Very rare that I don't win it.

Funny how sometimes I can go 0/200, and another time I lose 5 wickets in two overs. Sometimes all I can do is hit catches.

Feature wise, the game is looking superb. I'd like to see 20 over versions. Would be harder to maintain your wickets over a longer time. Especially with Twenty20 cricket being the NBT (Next Big Thing), a twenty over version would be a worthy option.

Anyway, some records of mine, from v2 and this beta:
best over: 34 (6 6 6 6 6 4) - spewing about that.
best player score : 169* (44)
fastest player 50: 10 balls
fastest player 100: 22 balls

geez there are some huge scores on the list. i mean 0/284 off 10 overs! I'll never get near that. My best is 234 so far. Be good if the screen was bigger.

And I can announce that I, as Kenya, have just won the ICC Trophy. Too easy as Australia.

I can't hit John Emburey for a boundary. I can be headed for a score of 260, but Emburey's two overs just stuff me right up. All I can do is shank him for 2's and 3's, that is when I'm not hitting catches. Frustrating!

So far i got 0 for 240 in slog game, also got Australia and USA to win the tournament..

Yeah would be better with a fullscreen/downloadable version... but im happy with this for now.

I agree that my biggest gripe is the size of the screen. The previous versions could be played full screen.

I managed 4/251 in the slog, but only took 27 off Emburey's two overs :mad:

I am in the habit of not using the UP button. Either it's an on drive or pull with the LEFT button, or an off drive or cut with the RIGHT button. I reckon it costs me a few runs.

For some reason i seem to struggle against Hadlee. Can never get the timing right. Can someone tell me any tricks to hit his bowling if they know any. I find emburey is easier though,the ball is always going to be a pull or a straight drive, i hit 34 off one of his overs.

I find with Hadlee, delay your shot. Hold back a fraction of a second, then hit it. You are probably hitting him as if he were a fast bowler.

I wonder if each ball can be hit for six. I notice that sometimes I get on a roll and I reckon I have my timing perfect. Then sometimes I can only hit fours and I reckon it's my timing that is out, and that each boundary can be hit for six if I just time it better.

Bloody typical. 0/93 after 3 overs and ended up making only 7/219. Emburey 6/17 off 2 overs :mad: :mad:

what shot's do u's all play for the spinner Emburey to get him away because u cant slog him to cow-corner as u get caught on the legside nor drive coz u get caught and bowled?

I find Emburey harder than the spinners from Stick Cricket version 2.

How about this: Emburey 1.3-0-3-6 !!! That's shocking.

I did hit him for 23 in one over once.

A review of Stick Cricket:

1. Stick Cricket

Don't be fooled by the simple graphics, this is the best game on the net. You have to chase insane scores, but can bat like Sehwag with tabasco in his box. Back foot drives for six, slog-sweeps into the light pylon, straight drives into the electronic scoreboard are all your daily bread.

To impede you in the chase the bowlers offer variations of pace, the fielders can move and catch and, if the fast bowler hits you in the head, you bleed all over the crease and knock over your stumps. Fair enough.

The game gets harder as you move through the levels. You can work your way up, or can simply enter "weegordon" at the start. This takes you to as far as the Cricket365 crew got, using the time honoured technique of "if in doubt, hook."

Sometimes I play and just try to get the highest score I can for Hayden. When he's off strike, I try to hit a 3 to get him back on strike. Some times I can get him to his 50 in the second over. Best so far is Hayden 146*.

Guys,

There is an "easter egg" in the game................to find it, do the following:

"If Imran sends down a sharp bouncer - DUCK!"

Some interesting things happen when this occurs - check out the USA team once you have done it............

Absolutely love the game.

Have won the tournament twice in four attempts today.

Damn Emburey always ********es me off.

Was cruising at 0 for 170 odd, then Emburey takes 6 for 4. Only made 8 for 218 :(

don't know how i did it, but playing as the West Indies against Zimbabwe, I just got bowled out for 27, and i was actually trying. for some reason the game just seemed really difficult, much faster than what i have been used to.

no, not me, but someone did it seems, check the slog scores. there must be some way to cheat, cos how on earth can you get 335?

one way to get 335 off 60 balls: 2 x 2, 1 x 3, 7 x 4, 50 x 6 !!!

I'd be interested to watch that effort. There should be some way of saving games.

Someone also HAD 592/2 or something like that, but it seems they have been taken down now. Don't know how they got that, but getting a high score is only worth it if you don't cheat, and do it the normal way!
