I ran into an old Fitzroy man at work yesterday who was going through the good old days and he was telling me how much he enjoyed going to Brunswick St and watching the Roys. He also mentioned to me that Ruthven station which is on the Epping line (I think?) is named after The Baron himself. If this is true this is absolutely legendary! This makes perfect sense to me but can anyone confirm this?.

ring the terminus hotel belmore st yarrawonga (the friendliest pub in the world and best fitzroy football club shrine in the public bar. second for me maybe haskins out the back). tell mark you need to ask the baron a quick question, and you'll get the drum from the man himself.

Hey Mobbenf*hrer,

It looks like we might be making a trip up to Yarrawonga at the end of the footy season. Perhaps we should organise a monthly pilgrimage to pubs around Melbourne and Victoria that have an abundance of anything Roy (not the Irishman).

Cheers,

Ruthven Station was not named after the Baron it was as far as I can recall named after a farmer or someone of similar ilk from the area.
And you also get to have a beer with Baron at the golf course in Yarrawonga, Bill Stephen will have the full story re the station.

I hear that one of the stations on the Dandenong line was named after none other than Shane Clayton!
