New series started last night.

About bloody time!!

So.. we don't know if Lisa topped herself (probably) but drowning.. yeww. Nate still a self centred sod but maybe there's hope for him. Brenda too for that matter..

David and Keith are going to eventually get it right, good. Don't like Ruth's new husband (George.. like James Cromwell though). Reckon there's skeletons in his closet that ain't nice. Waisting Arthur too atm.

Claire and Russell.. now this I don't want to see stuffed up. Really like the Russell character, got his faults but is probably the most 'decent' character so far in ther series. Don't make him gay, don't make him suicidal, just a bit insecure and besotted by Claire.

More Rico and Vanessa be good.. though bit suss him scoping out the hookers.. one off dalliance with the stripper.. okay. But dont turn him into some gutter crawler just on that basis.

Still, it's great television, not quite WestWing class but for the Yanks, excellent.

and if the old mans ghost don't come back, he wont be missed either.

Liked the early seasons of the show, but lost me last season, on too late with work commitments and small children.
Watch Oz instead now.

I love this show, my 2nd favourite behind Sopranos & one of only 2 i religiously watch & enjoy. Haven't watched last nights episode yet but taped it ready for tonight, will comment then.

I think the ghost of the old man will be there again.. i like his random appearances adds an interesting sideline.. plus he is a very dry funny old bugger.

I was in Paradise last night - the return of my two favourite shows - the Practice and Six Feet Under.

I loved the 1st series, partly because it was on the back of American Beauty and six feet under has many parellels with the movie. While its still one of the best tv shows I'm questioning whether its repeating itself and going over old themes. Claire I can't stand really, I don't think shes a well written character, I much prefer Jane from American Beauty. While David and his boyfriend is just a dead end that never stops, from the first episodes David puts up with his crap and til now its still the same. The best part of the show for me is Nate and Brenda, I hope I end up liking the neighbour of Brendas, because Nate is the character I empathise with the most, he was the ultimate nice guy in the first series and its interesting how he develops.

Just finished watching the first episode.. it was good.. mostly just tying up loose ends from the last series i thought.

Could be some interesting developments to come particularly with Rico & Vanessa... will also be interested to see what gets dug up about Ruth's new husband.. has to be more to him than whats been revealed so far.

All in all just glad its back on again & looking forward to the rest of the series.

I really like the theme music. It's very spooky.

Great opening episode, tied up a lot of the issues from last season and set up a few ongoing issues for the season to come. Like Fritz, this and The Sopranos are my only real TV "must sees". Really loved the end of the episode - we barely caught a glimpse of Lisa's body the whole time, but Peter Krause's performance in the last scene was fantastic. Can't wait to hear what Nathaniel has to say about all of this...

I've got a silly question - the opening death sequence was for an incident that ocurred back in 1972... what did it have to do with anything? They weren't any characters we know, were they?

No the dead guy from the start, it was his ashes that Nate gave to the mother, so that he could burry the actual body where she wished it to be.

To expand on this - you can see the stiff-of-the-week's name on the ashes canister as David is cleaning up near the end of the episode. There was a brief tie-in to this earlier when Arthur suggested he should go catalogue the unclaimed remains when David and Nate were arguing in front of him downstairs.

Really enjoyed last nights episode, the death at the beginning was a classic. Good to see old man Fischer back for another cameo. The tension between Arthur & George is also pretty good.. but do you think it was Arthur that sent the package? I reckon its from somebody else.. maybe the start of Georges skeletons coming out.

The banter between the security lads was also very funny... "Got any shades?" Keith finally giving in & pretending to be straight while checking out the chicks... David getting a blowie from the plumber & then fessing to Keith also got a laugh from me.

Looking forward to next week!

Is Mena Suvari's character going to be a love interest for Clare? I think Mena is a superb actor and I really like this character she's playing.

Where is this relationship of Brenda's going? It looks like she has met her match with this bloke. How long before Nate comes along and stuffs it all up?

What about Rico and the stripper? Is he just showering her with gifts out of guilt or does he really want to leave his annoying wife?

I feel sorry for Arthur, that George should not have eaten his yoghurt when it clearly had Arthur's name labelled on it.

Come back Billy!

was very surprised that Mena Suvari did a great job in her role. She was clearly the biggest flaw in American Beauty, although it was an unsympathetic and shallow character, and with American Pie, that didnt require too much talent. The whole lesbian 20 year old outcast girl thing, a little cliched but its about time Claire had something interesting happen to her.

The final season of Six Feet under starts tonight but they've put it up against Boston Legal.

I might have to use that old dinosaur called a VCR.
