View Full Version : What's wrong with Ladey?
I got to training a bit late today, massive crowd 5-6,000, anyway Lade was only out there for a very short time. Is he injured/ill??
Also the Thrust trained very well and i reckon if the weather is a bit iffy he'll certainly get the nod ahead of Damon. He looked a lot better in the wet conditions than White did, plus he's more flexible
However if Ladey cant get up, obviously they will both get a chance.
I dont give Ebert or Salopek a chance, but Cochrane will obviously be in the mix.

Geez, I hope Ladey is OK. He's our big edge in the middle.

And, unfortunate as it may sometimes seem, up forward.

Thought I heard McDermott say on the news tonite Cochrane was being used as a forward target in training drills. There's something to mull over!

I was meaning to post something about this in here.
This may sound a bit vague, but might jog someone's memory....
I distinctly recall Lade pulling up scratchy with a knee from a contest in last Friday's game. Have killed too many brain cells in the intervening days to be more precise about where and when I'm sorry, but I recall him clutching at his knee during the coverage of the match and I was thinking at the time it looked a bit dodgy - and no I'm not getting confused with the mark Tredrea pulled sown at CHF that caused him to jump in pain.
I've never been a huge Lade fan. I always think that for a guy with his size and skills he should contribute more, but I'm changing my opinion in the last 6-8 weeks. I actually think he could nearly be the wild card with his clever positional play, accurate kicking and excellent tap ruck work. He just seems to have hit a really good vein of form and confidence.
Keating may be able to move him off the ball in ruck contests, but I think he'll have too much smarts for McLaren. I know this is poor form, but lets just say I can live quite comfortably with Lade going in hurt.

There's something to mull over!North Melbourne did mull over it back in 1995 when they drafted him. He is basically the opposite of Tredrea....was a CHF in juniors, but got shifted to midfield because he is a poor mark and has no physical presence.
From what I can tell the main reason we got him is because Snowdon or Stewart liked him at the time and saw room for improvement. I guess they can't all be gems.
That said, he is a pretty straight kick for goal.

He said White :)
Yeah thanks for that - just talking to a mate and he cleared it up. McDermott said they were using White extensively as the key forward in training drills. But they showed Cochrane in the footage which is what threw me.
My apologies for any unsettled stomachs ... ;)

Much better.
Maybe Choco will throw Lethal for a loop and start Tredrea at CHB with Cornes & White forward.
Cornes was also kicking goals at the end of training, if that tells us anything.

That he practices kicking goals in junk time? ;)

A "reliable source" told me that Ladey's problem is actually his back.....Thrust trained as well as I've seen him all year. Guess that would be expected of most players, but not with him perhaps?
Sala and Ebo hung around for a while after training too and practiced goal shooting (and throwing the ball at each others' heads while laughing) but I don't think it means they're both playing this weekend. I also saw Jnr Burger have a few shots but doubt it means much.
BUT I thought Schoey trained pretty darn awfully! None of his kicks that I saw hit the target-nothing new there though. It's either the devil you know or the other devil you know........wonder which one Choco will pick.

They said he had pulled up sore after the weekend game and the early exit from training was pre-planned. That sounds perhaps a little like playing games in the lead-up week. They said he should be fine for the weekend though.
I think Lade could be a really important player on Saturday. He's very dangerous in the ruck or up forward, and actually quite difficult to match up on. Wouldn't be surprised if he has a big one!
