Okay... so most of you know that I have a hate-hate relationship with the umpires (it's why 'the fan rant' exists!).
Last night I sat down with the VCR and watched the replay, counting every free kick that was missed, or unwarrented - for both sides.
The final talley:
Essendon:
Deserved frees: 11
Unwarrented: 0
Missed: 14
Kanagaroos:
Deserved frees:9
Unwarrented: 2
Missed: 2

Darkrider...i've told him to quit his pointelss crusade on the Essendon website. Bringing such things to BigFooty just make him out as a goose.
I have my own personal theories about umpires and Essendon, but i keep them to myself, not force feed them to everyone on the internet. :rolleyes:

Can someone do that analysis for the 1993 Prelim final a match that was decided by 11 points or so.
Essendon 42 free kicks
Adelaide 16 free kicks

Interesting, his site started as a joke (I think!), and has become bigger from that.
Pretty much on the money there...
I sent an email or two to the AFL asking for a few things to be explained about umpiring bias... no answer... so I sent a few more... still no answer... so I sent a few more after compiling every free kick, kick, handball, tackle and score for every game (essendon and other) all the way back to the start of 2000.
Sad huh!
After still no response from the AFL...
So I thought to myself.... "I could just drop it." - and the AFL have another minor victory over every supporter.
or
I set up a web site designed specifically to get them to at least acknowledge my emails...
So I did.... and they did..... It was basically a "you're wrong" email.. but thats cool, I didn't really expect to get a "wow, we're biased... sorry.. we'll fix it" email!
But since I had the web space, I decided to do something with the site name...
Thus my pathetic attempt to run a close second to Andy over at Bomberblitz.com in the Essendon fan site game.
Can someone do that analysis for the 1993 Prelim final a match that was decided by 11 points or so.
Actually, the AFL do this for every game.. but buggered if I can get them to release the details on a game by game basis... they only publish a year total stat ..
