View Full Version : No Club can offer Judd what we can!
Another interesting fact to come out of the Glenn Jakovich tribute night. West Coast CEO, Trevor Nisbett said that the eagles have been building to this contract for 2 years (Chris Judd).
I quote him saying that "No club will be able to offer Chris Judd what we are about to offer him!"
Take from that what you will.
Good luck to the 10 Victorian clubs... I think the challenge has well and truly been laid.

Maybe the club have some exclusive agreement (or photo's) of the girlfriend.
If she's part of the deal, I'd be staying there for sweet fa.

If that is true then it is great news. I wouldn't expect much less from Nisbett as we have always been well placed in the past. I wonder, though, if his price will be bidded up to what was reported after his brownlow win of close to 2 million dollars over 3 years. I'm guessing that if its back-loaded that will mean he will be on close to 750,000 dollars in the third season.
$700,000 + Rebecca = 3 year contract.

I hate to ruin the party kids but I'm sure she is allowed to leave WA if she wants to. If her boyfriend is off to Melbourne to earn bucketloads, I think she might be swayed to leave Perth. But hey I'm posting on the blindest board on this site..

I actually don't think Judd will leave, he re-signed last year and squad looks better now than then. Just find the mass paranoia about him leaving amusing.

The only people who are pumping him up to return to Victoria are people like Mark Robinson who publish BS stories to sell papers.

I'm not suprised a WCE offer would be unmatchable - given the lack of overall talent there wouldn't be much salary cap pressure to worry about.

Your right...
We should of waisted our whole salary cap on Trent Croad and Jeff Farmer so that we couldnt afford to offer McPhee a half descent wage.
How about the time we signed a contract with Fabian Francis but was then told by the AFL that we had no room in the salary cap. Coulnt even figure it yourselves about how much room was left in the cap. Ordinary!
Dont give us lectures about salary caps, and keeping players. You blokes are the worst run club in the land. FACT!!

Coming from the team that valued Clive Waterboy at 500k....let's not forget Trent Croad.
Shouldn't you be looking to hop on a bandwagon somewhere...

Deforested perhaps, but I'm confident they exist.

That little yellow splotch around Hobart is a bit of a worry...

Yes, WC fans are paranoid about the prospect of Judd leaving
As indeed every other club in the league would be if they had him on their list.
20 year old Brownlow winning champions and legends in the making don't grow on trees.
We'll do whatever it takes to keep him as long as humanly possible.
When Nisbett says something is so, I tend to agree. He doesn't get much wrong. I just hope that Judd's not being over-valued (how do you over-value a 21-year-old Brownlow medallist?)
Just remember, no player is bigger than the club. If the sacrifice is too big, I say move him on. I don't know that it will come to that though. Judd's management will most likely pitch a price that is well within what the Eagles will be willing to pay, and Nissy will then move them down from there. Judd doesn't want to leave, his management & the Eagles know it, and negotiations will proceed with that firmly in mind.
Rest assured though, Chris Judd will be a very well paid young man over the next few years...
And as far as the skirt goes, well call me cynical, but she knows which side of the bread is buttered. Somehow I'd doubt they'd be together if he wasn't who he is and if the young fella decided to divest himself of her, she'd be waitressing quicker than you can blink!

Yes I will have another 3 pots please.... and make it snappy missy.

In the Herald Sun today:
Door opens as Judd delays talks
01 October 2004 Herald Sun
Jon Pierik
THE door is open for Victorian clubs to have a major crack at Chris Judd after the Brownlow medallist this week deferred negotiations on a new contract for another 12 months.
Judd has a year to run on his current deal and West Coast last week told the Herald Sun it was keen to begin talks for a new contract with his manager Paul Connors.
While the 21-year-old star said in Perth this week that he had no intention of leaving the Eagles, he ruled out renegotiating his contract before the end of next season.
Connors and West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett have reportedly said there was no rush to broker a new deal as they knew the former Caulfield Grammar student did not want to leave Western Australia.
Judd's parents and sister live in Melbourne.
He was constantly courted by Victorian clubs in 2003 before he signed his latest deal and was the target of an audacious attempted trade by Hawthorn this season.
It's understood the Hawks offered the Eagles their top pick in the national draft as well as two players.
They had hoped to sway West Coast to use the No. 1 pick to grab local star-in-waiting Lance Franklin, a 193cm key forward.
Essendon, which is keen to land a blue-chip midfielder, is expected to make a major play for Judd next season.
The expected retirement of skipper James Hird next year will free up cash the Bombers will need to throw at Judd if they hope to entice him home.
Dont really know what to make of this. I thought with what he said at the brownlow hed definetly re-sign this year but not to be. By next year his stocks would have risen even higher and if we're not in a premiership winning position, you never know how things will change.

they had basically the same article in the West a couple of days ago, but with all the positive bits highlighted. ie commited to the club, no thoughts of leaving etc. They just change the wording to suit the reader audience.
