What a joke.
Lynchy can now look forward to 10 weeks of mowing the lawn if Mrs Lynch has her way :D ;)

What a joke.
Lyncy's can now look forward to 10 weeks of mowing the lawn if Mrs Lynch has her way :D ;)Considering he has retired I doubt he'll care, he'll probably spend those 10 weeks with his feet up laying on a deckchair watching his former teammates band together to attempt another flag
Ignore this.
I tried to edit my original post and ended up quoting myself.
I can't believe it! I mean if he'd done some kind of serious injury then ok maybe, but he threw his fists around a bit!! The penalty is way too harsh.
suspensions/ fines for GF incidents are usually 1.5-2 times the norm. not that it ever seems to stop players. i doubt they ever think "ooh, this is a grand final, i'd better watch myself".
The penalty is meaningless really. The tribunal could make it 20 weeks and it wouldn't make one scrap of difference.
The fine of $15,000 is slightly different. Graham Bond on 3AW suggested that Lynch could effectively not pay it ever, as he's retiring. The club is not obliged to pay it either as the player and not the club has been fined. I'm not sure whether this is correct or not.

The downside is that they are then penailsed ore for having a bad record, ala brown this season. The GF one is seen as this next season in the eyes of the tribunal.
I also hope that Black isnt the new Brown in reporting and singling out for attention in looking at video of him.As he has now gt a 3 week suspension for a joke of a report.

Lynch will pay, to not pay a penalty that he has openly admitted that the entire Wakelin incident was his responsibility, would only further tarnish his relationship with opposition fans and the league. In time the bloke should be considered for the Hall of Fame, possibly even a legend of the game, however if he treats the league with such disrespect and arrogance (by not paying the fine) he could kiss such accolades goodbye. Think the Hall of Fame means nothing, see the reaction of the players when they are admitted, it means something.
The tribunal claims it sent a stern warning to all clubs that suspensions on GF would carry heftier penalties, Lynch knew this and yet his disappointment at knowing his GF (and career) was effectively over was so much that, for a brief period of time, he lost control.
If you consider that the penalty was always going to 1.5 - 2 times worse than normal that 10 weeks and a $15,000 fine is not too bad for someone who struck someone to the throat and then continued to throw punches.
Wakelin got off a little easier but then what is he supposed to do? Cover up or run away? Such actions on GF day would play havoc with the team's psyche, just look at what happened to the Pies last year.
Lynch has taken his Medicine like the man he is. It is a pity some Brisbane fans can't do the same and have to raise the possibility of the financial penalty (the only one with any real meaning) not being paid.

Then the AFL would harbour another grudge against us.
I like it though, if Lynch doesn't pay, thats his business not ours. When does his contract expire?
Should have got life, with no remission. ;)
Wouldn't advise him to take up boxing in his after-life.
That is absolute bull********, $15,000 and 10 weeks suspension just for trying to hit Wakelin is by far the most stupid decision the Tribunal's ever made. Though I can't but feel thankful that Lynch didn't do Wakelin damage - it could have been even more stupid. Erk.

Erk.The funny thing is Lynch got 4 weeks and 3 weeks for actually striking. And 3 weeks and 3 x $5000 for 4 "attempted" striking charges. Where is the difference between hitting and attempting to hit when it comes to penalties?
Lynchy should do a "Blossom" Keating. Have 9 months off and turn up next spring for a handful of games. THe body may still be up for a couple of months of decent footy. And he could stick it up a few people.....
The Black suspension is ridiculous. 3 weeks for not causing any discomfort or injury for a player with a clean sheet. Seems the suspensions from the GF come with an extra % penalty, yet the actual laying of charges isn't done with the same extra rigour - otherwise Wakelin would have at leasted been cited for kneeing Blacky.... I can't help but compare D.White's lovetap with the foot which cost him a suspension from earlier in the year, versus Wakelin's knee to Black - more dangerous, not cited. Stoopid.
Any don't take this as a sour grapes to Port post. They outplayed and outgunned and deserved the win. Its a show-some-consistency you AFL mongrels post. "City Hall" strikes back again.

What the hell is attempted striking? I mean can you then argue that raising your fist at a player is an attempted strike, you did the same thing as swinging over the head of someone, by not actually hitting them but making it look like you would. Maybe Archer should have got done for attempted striking when he pulled his fist back pretending to hit Carey? Absolute BS IMO.
The AFL should call it what it was. One charge of boxing. One charge one penalty. done. Cut out the BS.

The AFL should call it what it was. One charge of boxing. One charge one penalty. done. Cut out the BS.The attempted strikes were the wild swings that Lynch makes during the scuffle. They probably were intended to hit but only 2 of them actually made contact. In this instance the AFL should have used the "rough play" option instead of trying to penalise for every individual hit (or attempted hit).

Don't know if you noticed buddy, but Lynchy actually has a handful of them. You could have easily missed them in the last few years - recovering from those nasty wrist slashes and all, the last thing you'd want to do is watch footy.
