I hear rumours about this the other day, but can't find any further information on it besides this paragraph from RealFooty (http://realfooty.theage.com.au) .... Short leash for Brown (http://realfooty.theage.com.au/realfooty/articles/2004/09/27/1096137168834.html)

Brown yesterday became the fourth player to be cited from the grand final, for his left hook to the face of Josh Carr, while Brownlow medallist Jason Akermanis is being investigated on video review after appearing to bite Shaun Burgoyne.

From the posting the other day on RF the bite apparently occurred about 5 minutes before halftime and was replayed in slow motion shortly after the ad break at half time. I've checked the tape and can only see Burgoyne on top of Akermanis after knocking him over in the scuffle, does anyone have any further info on this one?

I saw some footage on "on The Couch" on Monday night and at first viewing it didn't look all that flash. But then I worked out what Aker was doing. Burgoyne had hold of Aker's guernsey and it looked like Aker was licking his hand to get him to let go.

I wonder where the AFL stands on licking?

Knowing our luck, he will be cited next week and charged with rough play and suspended for 5 weeks!!!!!!!!!!

The footage wasn't conclusive, but if they implement the "Charman rule". On balance of probability......

But seriously, I think they've looked at it already and decided there was nothing in it. Otherwise I think we would have heard something by now.

I've seen it a few times and I'm not really sure what Aker was doing but he definately wasn't biting.

Looked more like a dog licking a hand.

Maybe some words were spoken and Aker went 'the lick" as some kind of bizarre by-play?

I can imagine this:

Burgoyne: "You're a dog Aker"

Aker: "Ok, if you say so......lick....lick"

Probably another Aker joke that Leigh woudn't find very funny :D

This happened when Josh Carr pushed Aka to the ground, and hovered over him threatening to punch.

Carr saw what happened to his team-mate, and didn't like it, hence his reaction.

My guess was Aka had a little nibble, but then let go, because after the event, Shaun Burgoyne showed no ill-effects whatsoever.

So a bit of byplay happened, no-one was hurt, forget about it
