Just read over at footygoss that Chad has nominated Collingwood as his choice of destination, I haven't been around the boards lately so this is news to me.

Morrison has chosen the Magpies as his club of choice due to his wish to be coached again by former Eagles mentor, Mick Malthouse.

Morrison told Channel 10 he wishes to leave the Eagles due to the constant flying he has to do as an Eagle.

I've got mixed emotions about this, I always liked Morrison & it'll be disappointing to see him leave 2 games short of life membership.

How old is Morrison?
26/27?

Maybe McGough for Morrison?

Not sure that the club would need to be chasing another midfielder

I can see us ending up with Leon Davis, not that I particularly want him personally

Morrison will be a very handy pick up..... I kind of get the feeling though he is not telling the whole truth... I think the Eagles may have had a word in his ear and told him he may struggle to play in our side if not this year then definately in the next year... and it would be worth his while being traded to another club while his value is so high after his good 2nd half to the season... not just for the Eagles but for his own pay packet. Probably still has 4 or so good years left in him and would fit nicely into the Collingwood midfield... where he would struggle to get into the Eagles midfield/Half back with younger guys like Butler, Waters and Jones and Stenglein looking to take his spot.

Yeah I saw the Channel 10 snippet on Sports Tonight last night. I always liked Chad although I thought his disposal did let him down at times. But his rebound from half-back when in full flight was enjoyable to watch.

If a deal has to be done with Collingwood (which it doesn't, but if it does eventuate) I'm not sure who we would want from them that is comparable to Morrison.

I looked through their list and no one that is one reasonable comparable value really jumped out at me. Perhaps a deal with draft picks will be done? Although I don't think we really need that.

Seems to me it would be better off for us to deal with another Victorian club.

I think the club would be looking at Draft Picks to replace the ones that we are to trade away for Stenglein.. Just a thought?

west coast are looking for another outside midfielder with good finishing and evasive skills i was told. does anyone know anyone have an idea that we might trade morrison for. or maybe trading morrison for a young player in the draft. does anyone know a young 18 yr old who plays like that in this years draft that might go late 1st or early 2nd round draft pick that the eagles could look at??

I would like to think that we could use Morrison as trade bait to attract a key position player or as part of a 3-way-deal to get Stenglein. He is only 26, so would have a while left ahead of him (4 or 5 years) and would be a valuable addition to most teams.

outside midfielder

Outside midfielder = Pavlich

I know one who has been told by the Eagles they are looking at rookie listing him...... and he would fit this bill... Although he is currently 21.

I would have thought you just described Mitch Morton, only difference is that had he not gone Father / Son he would have gone in the top 10 draft picks.

But to answer your question Ryan Jackson would fit that description the added advantage is that Ryan was a prolific goal scorer in junior football.
Ryan at 187cm is now developing into a good midfielder and his foot skills are very good. Would expect Ryan to go in the second round mid to late, had he not broken his ankle in the International Series representing the AIS he may well be in the first round.

Agreed, most West Coast supporters, i think, would be happy with that, but i don't know about Collingwood.....Either way what is said in forums and what happens in reality are two different things.

is jackson better than bain??

Yes I believe so , Bain is very outside , whilst Jackson also gets his own ball plus Jackson can also play in defence, and at this stage Bain does not have a defensive aspect to his game therefore he is exposed in the transitional phase of the game.

Jacksons marking ability is superior to Bains.

Bain is not a bad footballer its just that Jackson is much better.

Morrison has chosen the Magpies as his club of choice due to his wish to be coached again by former Eagles mentor, Mick Malthouse.

Or alternatively, Morrison has chosen the Pies as his club of choice because being a well-known quantity to the coach gives him a better chance of getting in the 22 at the expense of young'uns, whereas a new coach who doesn't know his game so well mightn't rate him as highly....
