Just was reading an article this morning... and it said that a few clubs were interested in lance, now it has been shown that lance has been delisted by the club alongside cox..... But the thing that confuses meis , it seems that these 2 players can still be traded by the club...Did i read right, can anyone tell me if it is possible to trade a player after he was told he would be delisted?

Depends on if they have actually been delisted already or if they were told that they would be delisted after trade week if no other clubs showed interest

It's a bit complex but i believe it is correct, if Lance doesn't get traded he gets delisted, don't think Lance contract will be up for about a month anyway, and unlikely that it will be paid out, and since he isn't retiring, he is being delisted, i think the better word is he will be released like in the US, as i don't think he gets a pay out for being delisted.

Picioane like Cox is under contract until 31st October , at that time if a suitable trade is not reached , both players are uncontracted and free to nominate for the National or pre-season draft. Hawthorn have informed them that they will not be renewing their contracts. If another club is keen on securing them they may trade for them this week or take their chance on grabbing them in the draft.

we would want a draft pick, and this is where the problem starts, we would probably love a 3rd rounder, but he would be worth 4th or 5th, now if we accept 4th or 5th we have to draft that low, currently i think we are okay with the number of picks we have with players left, i would expect the picionie deal to be one of our final ones, as we can't afford to fall to far down in the draft and get too many picks, otherwise it is a lot of delisting. we may just have to let him go for free, cos we might not want to do any delisting.

Good point on the picks.

List out - Graham, Tallis, McCabe, Barlow, Thompson
List in - Thurgood, PSD 2nd pick, 2, 5, 10, 20, 26, 36, 52

That means if we are going to bring in those picks and Thurgood from rookie list we are 4 spots shy. Piccione could be traded for a draft pick/player so theres no change, While Cox could be delisted meaning we are 3 spots shy.
I think there will be either more delistings after the trade period, although due to contracts not sure who would be chopped.

we could try bundling lekkas and dixon together, contract could be a problem.

so far we only have to draft upto 26, but 36 could still be decent, probably wouldn't bother pass 50 with the amount of picks we have, and we don't have to take any one in the psd. currently we need to get rid of one more player for no return if i added correctly and that is only upto pick 26, pretty sure we don't have to utilize our 3rd rounder.

here is an idea:

package 3rd rd + 1 or 2 of dixon/lekkas/picioane/whoever for a 2nd rounder, it should solves our problem.

Think that your on the right track there, going by reports that Lekkas and Picioane were originally packaged up with the Thompson trade only to fall through at the last.

Couldn't see them both going for the Roo's (as they have to use their 3rd round for Smith under the F/S) though?... Reckon Ang is worth (even allowing for the poor season) at least a 30 - 40 selection but it may come down to contracts, cap room etc.

Wait and see I guess.
