Jungle drums are beating louder that Mark Johnson will join his brother down at Geelong for Kane Tenace and draft picks. My question is: Isn't there a rule that prevents new draft picks from being traded after just one season?
If so, then EFC couldn't touch Tenace at this stage.
No there isn't and if such a trade took place (which it won't), it will be Mark Johnson plus trade picks for Kane Tenace.

No, They can be traded, it has happened b4.
and I doubt Mark Johnson will be leaving Essendon, despite the beating of your jungle drums.

no chance. geelong won't give up tenace for MJ if they wouldn't release him for #7.
I wouldn't accept Lloyd for Tenace, although ironically the Cats do need someone like that
Tenace will be a very good player, if the Bombers get him they should be congratulated, but it ain't gonna happen

I think there is a rule that prevents a club trading a top youngster and a draft pick for an undisciplined battler.

its called common sense.
Luckily some clubs don't have it..

youre thick then
If the melbourne/richmond/geelong deal goes through the only trading we will do is offloading spriggs for free.

Damn! Where's the Richmond of old?
I wouldn't call MJ a battler, although he did have a pretty sub-par season. Three of his 5 full AFL seasons have been pretty good, including a B&F..

i actually think you are correct here with your thought that there is such a rule.
But it is 'elastic' in the sense that he cannot be traded against his wishes BUT if HE is seeking a transfer then that is possible.
As i say this is what i think the rule is but maybe someone can correct me & tell all of us the DEFINITIVE rule.
