View Full Version : A wicket with one's first ball
I made my senior cricketing debut on Saturday, having not played competitively since I was 12.
Anyway, got a bowl, and was lucky enough to take a wicket with my first ever ball in senior cricket. Cleaned bowled him too!
Never mind that it was a complete pie and he only missed because he took a giant swing at it, I'll happily take it.

Great feeling Squeak. I got a wicket with my first ever ball playing cricket when i was 9 :D
I plan to retire when i've taken a wicket with my last ball.
I scored a four off my first ball when i was 10. But i took my first wicket in my second match, took 3 wickets actually.

Same, first ever Senior match since I was young, and bowled two overs and got 1 for 3, they were 8 down when I came onto bowl, luckily the no.10 didn't disgrace himself when he prodded forward, missed a turning leg break and got bowled :D

It took me two or three matches to take my first wicket... thought I was being played as a batter. It was a caught behind dismissal - nothing flash.
But I do remember getting out in my first match. Was on 9 or 10, and their fastest bowler in the squad bowled an inswinging full-ball which uprooted my middle stump - a very very awful feeling. It not only knocked the stump out the ground, but the stump went at least 8-9 metres beyond the crease towards the wicket-keeper!!!

I remember hitting four sixes in a row when I was 14... pretty happy as it was the first ever sixes I have ever hit - after playing for a year or two. Probably average around 2 sixes every three innings since.

I took a wicket with the very first bowl of training for this season three weeks ago. The 14 year old, talented as he is, didn't know what hit him!
We had this import from south africa. He could smack the ball everywhere, and he was also our fastest bowler (he opened the bowling for the w.a u17's). Neways it was his first training session with us and we were doing net practice, he smashed all his bowlers, so i changed nets. First ball, out!, leg spinner around his legs. Second ball, Out!, the gatting ball. And they were the only two times i bowled to him. Net practice @ the game was the next time i bowled to him. 1 ball of day, (3rd to him overall), Out! Caught and Bowled. Then the next ball he smacked me 80m. But it was my only ever hat-trick.
