What is your all time favourite? One that stands out in your mind that you love watching over and over again?

Mine is without a doubt the 'FU Speech' from 25th Hour. Possibly the greatest ever and my favourite by far. Everytime i watch that movie, i re-wind that part acouple of times.

Another good scene in the movie is when Norton is being questioned and he asks the cop "that" question. Some funny stuff but no where near the "FU Speech"

Bit soft I know, but I like the tango scene from Scent of a Woman

I also liked these 2 scenes (for no particular reason)
1. Denise Richards and Neve Campbell - Wild Things
2. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair - Cruel Intentions.

The final scene in Wings of Desire where Bruno Ganz explains to Solveig Dommartin his feelings for her.

Also the 'Ruprect' scene in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Steve Martin and Michael Caine.

And the "Sweet Transvestite" number in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, being the introduction of Tim Curry as Dr Frank'n'Furter.

Taxi Driver: The scene at the end when he shoots up the place

The Deer Hunter: The russian roulette scene at the pow camp.

European Vacation: crap movie but the bit where Rusty and Clarke are at an alfresco cafe table and the coule on the next table are snogging and Rusty says, "Dad, I think he's going to pork her". The only movie quote that has a place in my vocabluary.

1. When Michael Corleone shoots Solozzo and McClusky, the beginning of his decent into the world of crime.
2. The ride of the Rohirrim, sent a chill to my bone, wouldn't want to have 5,000 horsemen blowing horns and screaming death charging at me.
3. "Show me how you suck a guys ********" in Bad Lieutenant, no specific reason, just shows how depraved the guy is.

My god that is one of the most powerful and moving movies Ive ever seen. And Christopher Walken in that scene is amazing.

Id never encountered him till I saw Communion, and I knew he was a respected actor, but thought it must be for his unusual features...

Until I saw the Deer Hunter.

An amazing film.

Mine has to be from Last of The Mohicans. The part where the sister is standing on the edge of the cliff. There are no words spoken but you know every thought that is going through her head as she looks down and looks back at the indian guy. There is only the soundtrack playing.

It is so so powerful.

Also from the same movie where Daniel Day Lewis shoots the officer guy to save him from suffering the burning at the stake. Oh and the bit preceeding that when the officer tells them to take him and not Lewis.

Oh gosh the whole freakin movie.

Remembering more now.

The final bus scene in Midnight Cowboy had me crying all over my Dad (who I went to see it with.)

The first ten minutes of Mad Max. Classic cars racing around Williamstown and Anakie.

Every word spoken in Mad Max 2. Me and a friend in high school watched this movie so many times that we could recite bits from the script at will.
"Two days ago I saw a truck that could haul that tanker. You want to get out of here, talk to me."

Final scene "My captain" (?) in Dead Poets Society was the first scene in a movie that really moved me.

I don't remember exactly what happens, but the scene where Robert De Niro is standing by a bar while Sunshine of your Love plays in Goodfellas. The absolute personification of COOL. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him not look cool in any of his films....even King of Comedy.

I'm not sure if it's my favourite scene of all time, but having just recently seen the film again, one that really sticks out in the memory is in 'To Kill A Mockingbird'.

Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck) is leaving the courtroom and the Reverend tells Finch's daughter Scout to stand because her 'father's passing'. Then we get a wide shot of the courtroom, the Negroes in the upper tier respectfully standing as Atticus makes his exit, head bowed in disappointment.

I always thought that was stirring stuff.

Some that come quickly to mind:

- Metropolis, when the big machine blows up

- Sunrise, when the husband goes to meet the city vamp in the field

- M, opening scene with little girl looking up at the reward poster, as the shadow of Peter Lorre goes over her

- Double Indemnity: their last meeting at Philyis's house, when he shoots her. Opening scene of his confession is pretty good, too

- Out of the Past, when their last embrace shot in profile with a single light source behind. As their lips/face meet across the screen, it goes black and you know they're doomed

- Lady From Shanghai, fabulous house of mirrors finale

- Harp of Burma, when the captain is talking to the AWOL soldier, hidden somewhere in a shed, pleading with him to come back and return to Japan with them, while the AWOL soldier is trying to explain his higher calling

- Night of the Hunter, when Mitchum is stalking the house, and inside the young boy is telling a biblical story to his sister. As boy gets to an evil part of the story, Mitchum (replete in a preacher's hat) passes between the house and a street lamp, and a dark ominous shadow goes around the room

- Touch of Evil, Janet Leigh at the deserted hotel runs into a gang of Mexican bad lads and some smack. Waking up next to the strangled Mexican gang boss, withis swollen tongue hanging out over head was pretty good too

- Vertigo, take your pick but liked Hitchcock's light touch when Scotty first sees Madelaine (and their eye contact) and that wonderful 360' shot when they later embrace

- The Conformist, the lesbian tango scene, but many others would qualify

- Apocalypse Now, the helicopter attack and the Ride of the Valkyries

- Blood Simple, when the fat detective is trying to shoot the wife through the walls of a bathroom. Scene keeps on cutting from him in a bright bathroom, to her in a dark room next door. As he blasts through the thin wall, beautiful but deadly smoky cones of light come closer and closer to her

I'll second that, they have done that how thing with alot of respect and done it justice. Im glad they did not do the typical Hollywood crap and go for all the flashy stuff.

On the other hand though one of my other favourite scenes is the car chase in Bad boys 2.

3 & 4. "You're the only guy I know whose d**k needs an instruction manual." "You're like a blind man trying to pick out his favourite porno!" Who else but the Stif-meister (Seann W. Scott)

Pulp Fiction - when Mia Wallace overdoes and Vincnet Vega has to go to the dealers house to give her the adrenealin shot - pure gold drama and comedy all at once.

Casablanca - Where the Germans are sining their anthem and Victor Laslo gets the band to play Le Marseille over the top. Terrific.

Big - Tom Hanks playing the piano with his feet with the boss in the department store.

Princess Bride - Miracle Max scene.

Cuel Intentions 2 - Shower scene

Porkys - gym scence where the young teacher is having sex upstaris and the chick howls like a dog; also the scene where the fat ugly teacher asks for their to be a penis parade so she can identify the flahser in the lockeroom.

The opening scene from Resevoir Dogs, when they talk about Madonna's Like a Virgin and then discuss the giving of tips is my fave opening scene.

That was one of the ones I was thinking of. Also, from the same movie, the scene where Mr Orange is learning the anecdote that he ends up telling to Joe and Mr White in the nightclub. Great scene that one, flows beautifully in chronological order without stopping. Also, where Mr White is explaining to Mr Orange about the plans for the robbery-
"If you wanna know something and he (the store manager) won't tell you, cut off one of his fingers. The little one. Then tell him his thumb's next. After that he'll tell you if he wears ladies underwear. I'm hungry. Let's get a taco."

Also, Pulp Fiction has so many great scenes that it's hard to nominate one. However, I like the explanation of the "Royale with Cheese" scene, when they are having a chat with the guys in the apartment, just before killing them all. That movie should be in the dictionary under "cool".

Others already mentioned:

- The opening scene in Saving Private Ryan. I don't think I blinked for 20 minutes.
- Also love the scene in Good Will Hunting where Ben Affleck's character goes to pick Will up for work and realises he's not there. Not sure why, but love that scene- so quick and simple but sums up the emotions of over 20 years of friendship.

-The end of Reservoir Dogs, I can't exactly remember the names, but when you're not sure if he's gonna shoot or not.
-The superglue scene from American Pie 2
-End of Memento when he writes the number plate down. (Or is it a name, can't remember)
-End of American History X, as well as the scene when he first ignores the skinheads in jail.

* Midnight Express - The girl friend in the visiting room behind the glass panel while he services himself. Ugly to watch, but powerful as he bottoms out before regrouping and starts planning his escape.

* Blazing Saddles. Too many to mention...eg Stop...don't move or the ****** gets it (as he holds his finger to his own head and confuses the local hicks)....or the Campdown Racetrack song...or any scene you can nominate - the ultimate Mel Brooks & comedy classic.

* Pulp Fiction - accident in the back of the car, any of Jule's sermons, Christopher Walken's 'monologue, Butch's escape from the gimp & rednecks (and many more)

* The Crying Game - just didn't see that one coming!

There are so many, but some that spring to mind :

For humour, I like the scene in Pulp Fiction where John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson are sitting in the diner talking about trivial things like how a Big Mac in France is called Le Big Mac. It looks like they improvised a bit and it just looks naturally funny.
I also love the hire car scene in Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

I also love the helicopter ride in Apocalypse now and the scene that follows with the surfing. Robert Duvall is hilarious.

Another is the last scene in The Shawshank Redemption when Red walks down the beach to meet Andy and they hug. Beautiful scene that always brings tears to my eyes.

But a scene that I love purely for realism is in Casino, when Robert De Niro comes home to find his daughter crying because his wife (Sharon Stone) has tied her to her bed while she goes out to get high. The way he talks to her when he catches up with her just does not look like acting, his anger looks as real as I've ever seen.

If you enjoyed that, you'd probably enjoy the Russians landing on the Volga at Stalingrad and subsequent battle from "Enemy at the Gates".

At least the Yanks had one rifle per man and didn't get nasty grief from Stukas when they landed.

Yeah that is a very good start to the movie, however the movie sorta trailed off for me after that.

I would of liked them to at least try to have a russian accent just to add some reality to it.

The opening scene from Resevoir Dogs, when they talk about Madonna's Like a Virgin and then discuss the giving of tips is my fave opening scene.

Isn't that a great scene?

Also another QT film, Pulp Fiction. The last scene in the diner with Jules and the two robbers. Pure gold. Samuel L Jackson is the man.

Both scenes are complete gold. The whole Pulp Fiction movie only just makes sense in that last scene, and marks the genius that is Tarantino.

The opening scene of Reservoir Dogs is so simple, yet brilliant. "Whaddya mean you don't tip?"

American History X when Norton stomps on the guys head. I know its coming, but I still cringe every time.

Mr Blue: This girl was nice
Mr Pink: She was okay. She wasn't anything special.
Mr Blue: What's special? Taking you in the back and sucking your ********?
Nice Guy Eddie: I'd go over 12% for that!

Harold & Kumar : When they arrive at Burger Shack and can't beleive White Castle is gone. They ask the black guy there and he rants and raves. Funniest stuff ever. "IT JUST MAKES ME WANNA BURN THIS MOTHERF*CKER DOWN, BURN THIS MOTHERF*CKER DOWN"
