What's the deal with baggygreen? They don't have a live scorecard, but instead it is still showing 0/70...

Interesting to see WA have left out Casson. Would've thought he'd be getting ahead of Hogg in the longer version of the game.

nice to see Hussey can the trend from recent seasons of poor form in the early part of the season. Obviously the year off the county game has done him good.

A lead of 163 with a wicket to go, and 4 sessions. Interesting- WA will be bowled out next session leaving Tasmania basically a day to get the runs. However, they need to avoid getting bowled out twice.

Either going to be a WA win or a draw (more likely). Tassie can't win.

Looks like only the rain can save tasmainia now. A few showers forecast for tommorrow.
Williams injury is a huge blow to the warriors. Edmondson is also injured at the moment. The bowling attack looks weak now

Tasmania at Stumps 8/159 trail by 61.

Hogg 5/29 including 4/0 in 9 balls.

Concerned over Brad Williams doing ligament damage on his knee but other then that it seems that Hussey is in some form and Marsh has hit some form and it was a great last wicket partnership before we declared.

First blood to the Warriors in what will hopefully be a good season :)

While I'm happy that George is doing well, I find it hard to see Beau Casson getting a game in the near future which is a real shame

How embarassing- Hussey looks like scoring more runs than the total Tassie side in the second innings.

Good win to WA- I thought Tassie would be one of the top 3 sides, but maybe WA will be right up there.

WA have been on fire in the Pura Cup... with this win and then they won something like 4 of the last 5 last year. Pity they let themselves down in the ING Cup - the competition which they are dominant in.

Andy Blignaut's Pura Cup debut wasn't too special. 9 & 0 with the bat and 0/79 from 12 overs. Tassie would be a little disappointed with that I would think.

True but I would have been surprised if he had a blinder on debut. I will wait until Christmas time and look at the form in both comps before declaring if Blingnaut was a good recruit.

Blignaut has had a interupted start to his season. He had visa and immigration problems that put him back 6 weeks. Give him time he might come good.

Still did better than Sean Ervine! Is this a sign that Zim cricket even at it's best is not up to first class level?

Absolutely - we are blessed with a 1st class comp that is far far above any other in the world. No one from another country could expect a walk up start.

Perhaps a slight overstatement.

I could name a fair few who's walk into any Aust FC team.

Lara, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kallis, Murali etc

But your point that the standard of our FC cricket is undoubtedly the world's best stands.

Hogg took 6 for 44 in the Taswegians second innings

David Dawson carried his bat for 123, which is an outstanding effort, without regard for the fact it was his FC debut.

Great win by the Warriors to get our season off on the right foot.

Don't give me that crap about "because you've never played the game at level x you can't comment about it".

If that was the case this board and dozens like it would not exist.

For what it's worth I did not say any player was crap merely that Ervine had not yet produced at club level. I'm sure that would be one helluva demoralising sledge on the field, wouldn't it? Or aren't I allowed to comment?

If you can't handle someone passing a comment about a player or two then I'd suggest you're a tad too precious for this sort of forum.

I hope Sean Ervine is up to the task I really do.

He has shown a bit in international cricket for Zim but as we've seen the standard required to play for Zim and the standard required for interstate cricket in Australia is a fair way off comparable.

Wayne Clark has said Ervine will need to prove himself to crack a game for the Warriors. To do this he needs to do it at the grade cricket level; which is still undoubtedly a much higher standard than FC cricket in Zimbabwe (Logan Cup etc); regardless of his international exploits. At the present time he hasn't exactly set the world on fire with his efforts. I'm sure he'll improve with time and will break into the team in due course.

It's good that he's actually playing grade at the moment, we saw what happened with flower when he was rushed into the SA side, he did sweet FA. Give Ervine a few months playing grade and sharpening his skills under the blokes like Lillee and Noddy Holder, and he'll really produce at a first class level IMO.
