I was wondering if anyone has any info on the players Assumption College might have brought in this year/ will bring in next year. We (Trinity) have beaten them in the year level competitions but we assume they will get better for first XVIII competition as they always do.

Thanks

On the field. Lost by 8 goals in a practice match but then beat them by 2 goals during the season. :D

Nah seriously, they usually have a very strong team and have produced many stars.

They will have a few Cannons: Richard Douglas (Stared for the cannons during the finals series)

Mate obviously you know jack s..t! Consumption has never given scholarships unlike the city schools that offer scholarships for anything to be able increase their profile. The only perks at Consumption are a drive of the coach's car if your a New South Welshman who has his licence.

You will notice that Consumption is the only boarding school within cooee of any country towns in southern NSW & most of Regional Vic except for the Ballarat side of course.

Jealous city folk don't understand that money doesn't buy you premierships - just ask Eddie!

Most of the AGS schools I used to compete against gave scholarships for swimming, tennis and acadamia but I can't remember too many football scholarships given out in those days.

I went to Camberwell Grammar - hardly a factory for footballing talent - and we still had one or two scholarships a year for football.

Assumption, Marcellin and Trinity still give out scholarships. Because of their area i'd assume PEGS would too. Not sure about Ivanhoe, Penninsula or Yarra Valley.

Ivanhoe was definitely a swimming scholarship school along with Mentone. Each had their forte' but I distinctly remember Camberwell having fantastic sports facilities including a wonderful indoor swimming pool!

Nah, we had an awesome outdoor synth hockey ground (the only sport we regularly win) and a pretty good oval.

Our swimming pool was a **********heap, although they did renovate whilst i was doing my VCE. I still have painful memories of eyes burning after five minutes in that water... :o

You may be right about Assumption not giving out footy scholarships - but i still have vivid recollections of getting pounded by 15+ goals every time we played your mob. :p

assumption do giv out footy schoolarshipz belive it or not. trinity and ivanhoe definately do as well. not sure bout other schools but i think PEGS do as well. the only school i know doesnt give out any shoolarships at all weather it being sporting or academic is marcellin. only side in the comp that can win without cheating.

Almost certain Marcellin don't give scholarships either. In fact, I doubt any of the AGS schools do.

Caulfield Grammar on the other hand....

Marcellin don't need to give scholarships because ANYONE could afford to go there. The ACC schools don't give scholarships for the same reason. I think you'll find that very few of the AGS/APS schools would give scholarships purely based on footballing ability. They would need to have more than just that.

Being breast fed is purely the decision of your mother, and has been proven to have long lasting benefits in your later life. Last time I checked, it had nothing to do with wealth.

In terms of costs though, Marcellin is a far cheaper alternative than Ivanhoe or Trinity. And, it is a Catholic school and therefore draws many people that way. They do have an excellent football program though, backed up by terrific facilities.

Again: Con(Ass)umption DO NOT GIVE OUT FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIPS - never have, never will. It is the cheapest boarding school in Australia and the not-so-wealthy farmers do send their kids there for an education and a life. The wealthy farmers send their kids to Xavier, Scotch etc... in Melbourne where it is way more expensive.

Assumption aren't cheats. You will find that any XVIII outside the 1sts are easy-beats. I have seen this for a fact. It is not until they get to VCE and start getting coached by the saintly Ray Carroll that they turn into champions.

You may find some sporting fathers send their kids their in years 10 - 12 to ply their footy trade and that adds to the power of the firsts but generally it's not too popular with former students' children. e.g. Renato Serafini sends his kids to Xavier.

I was wrong about Camberwell's pool. It must have been Ivanhoe's, but one of the eastern AGS schools had an awesome swimming complex. Camberwell had a hot tennis team from memory.

There was an old saying at Kilmore "wait until footy season you city f**kers!"

I go to Trinity in Year 10 and they dont give out Football Scholorhsips to anyone. To get a sports scholorship of any kind you have to be exceptional at all sports and have good academic skills also. There is the a number of boys in our year level that could get football or soccer scholorships but there not the brightest of kids academically.

Thankyou,
Dayne

Trinity dont give out scholarships. Many people including myself tried out and they dont give them out just for sport. You have to be academically strong too. Bastards

That may explain why Trinity has such talent on the footy field.
