So South Australia can lose an extra couple of One Day games each season?
I Think that ACT and NT should have domestic cricket teams
ACT Comets-Blue and White
NT Kangaroos-Orange and Black It would be hard for the NT to have a side in the National Comp. considering their cricket season is finished by the time the National Comp. starts

We can have one extra - "The Territorians!"
They play in Darwin before Christmas and at Manuka after.
Their colours can be blue, white and ochre.
They're not very good, but provide 2nd XI cricketers from other states a chance to play in the big league!
How could the Territorians play? They couldnt play at Marrara before christmas, because the footy is played on that ground.. Hence why the Aussies played mid-year there.. The Territorians couldn't pick any back up players as most of them play footy in the NTFL

Juddy, I was taking the ********. I just hate using emoticons to tattoo my intentions all over the post.

There is a reason why Australia has such a strong FC cricket competition. The fact we only have 6 teams is the best way to concentrate the talent and keep useless hack players out of the system.
Another 2 teams? no thanks

ACT Comets who played One day domestic cricket a few years ago are still around but play in the Cricket Australia Cup (State 2nd XI) competition.

more teams = lower standards
the best national championships in the world have the fewest teams
if anything, south australia and tassie prove that australia is at its limits of team numbers - the axing of the ACT was a good move by the ACB

Yeah, we don't want to dilute the talent like county cricket, given our state system is doing it;s job of producing quality cricketers for Australia.

How about we bring in NT and get rid of SA? Surely they could put up a better fight

Don't know if this a serious thread or not.
But the FC structure in Australia is just right, and definetaly doesn't need tinkering with.
The 2nd XI system works quite well too, but i would like to see an Academy (probably under 21) team put into the competition. Basically it would just be an Australian under 21 team. These are the guys who are going to be playing together in the future, and the more they get used to each other now, the better.
So it would be the same structure now in the FC competition.
In the 2nd XI competition, under 21 players can play for both the U21s and their state 2nd XI. And include an ACT team. 8 teams with 2 divisions of 4.
Play each team in your own division in 4 day matches (Monday-Thursday). Play each team in the other division in one day matches (On Tuesdays). Play Games in Rounds.
Round 1 (last week of September) - one day matches against other division
Round 2 (2nd week of October) - four day matches within division
Round 3 (last week of October) - one day matches against other division
Round 4 (3rd week of November) - four day matches within division
Round 5 (2nd week of December) - one day matches against other division
Round 6 (3rd week of January) - four day matches within division
Round 7 (2nd week of February) - one day matches against other division
Final (last week of February) - four day match. top teams from each division.
Each round, U21s get to pick their 12 man squad. Any left over under 21 players can than be picked by their state team.
And same rules would apply as they currently do in terms of selection of state players. I believe it is, but could be wrong, that anyone who played in the last game for the state 1st XI (or missed that game through international duties), is ineligible for selection in the 2nd XI team. Any injured players are allowed to come back through the 2nd XI competition.
