Well, what a top game Showdown X turned out to be. It took Port while to get going but after that it was plain sailing. Obviously Williams stakes a claim on coach of the year. Moving Primus up forward and Brogan into ruck turned the game on its ear, and I for one thought that at crunch time – had the Crows purple patch continued the game would have been gone – you had to have Matty where the action was. Well, Williams made the opposite call and the rest is history. Speaking of history, when was the last time Adelaide managed to beat Port? As for the future, another Adelaide season down the gurgler, just when they were claiming this game would see them into the 8. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of duds. Same old story for them, the same contributors for a quarter or so and bugger all from most of the rest –especially when the going gets tough. Port on the other hand had their usual 18 or so solid contributors. Special mention to Francou – getting the showy goals after a turn over is one thing, consistently winning the hard ball in the packs is another, our veteran giving their veteran not only a bath but a shave and a haircut and boy does he need it, the “over-rated” Tredrea showing that he is currently the competition’s best CHF, I could go on, what chance James for the Jack Cahill medal? Thanks to Port for keeping it close. While thousands of Crows left during the last quarter the token fight back, after Port rested a few of the truly dedicated workers, ensured that there were still a few crow supporters, mind you, they were hiding the scarves and the beanies and trying to sneak out quietly - left by siren time, quiet, cowed and beaten senseless as they were. AS for the 4000 who did not show, its your dough ********s, I guess Crow supporters have more dough than get up and go. In fact, to a crow, “get up and go” is what you do five minutes into the final quarter .
