I've seen many episodes over the years, but have only laughed at it once or twice in total. I just don't see the appeal.

You should really give us more options....... I liked the older simpsons episode (season 4-8) but i find the new ones too weird.

Comedy is a matter of taste, it's neither right nor wrong to find them funny. The Simpsons have changed though. When they first started they were fresh, they were original, they challenged the system. Now they are the system and ingrained as a part of everyday life. The writers obviously struggle to find an interesting plot, the only decent one in the last 8 years being when Homer got a job with a meglomaniac who kills James Bond. But the Simpsons humour survives through sheer force of weight. The show has always had a huge number of writers, and it turns over these writers rapidly. Consequently the Simpsons strength is found in it's dialogue, it's quick wit and sharp satire. It's a strength that it is still going strong.

Whilst I have no idea what Channel Ten are doing with the new episodes (they were on a Wednesday, then on a Monday, now...???), I still watch it when there's nothing else on.

But having said that, 4 episodes a night (Wednesday, no new episodes at least this week) is a joke...

But the older episodes are quality - some of the newer ones are good too.

Overall, I still love it, yeah.

Not much anymore. It saddens and angers me no end to watch older episodes when the writing was sharp and funny, then to see the hackneyed, cliched and tired new episodes they've trotted out over the last few years.

THe older ones are the best (the ones repeated at 6pm) but the new ones just are not as amusing.

I don't enjoy it like I used to, but I feel it's an obligation I watch every episode on Fox8/Ten.

Yes. Around 1991-1995 it peaked and the latest episodes are a bit out there but I'll keep watching. One of the more recent ones a few weeks ago "the way we weren't" I think it was called conflicted with the history of the simpsons a bit though.

You just feel the need to chuckle at it when watching it; but I can't really name a youngish person who doesn't like the Simpsons.

Still, it's best show of our Generation.

Marge: Do you want our son to grow up to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, or some sleazy male stripper?

Homer: Can't he be both, like the late Earl Warren?

Marge: Earl Warren wasn't a stripper.

Homer: Now who's being naive?

I love it too but the most recent episodes are weird.

The Beatles had their Yellow Submarine phase.

This is just the Simpsons writers wringing every last comedy drop out of the show using surrealism.

I approve...

Simpsons are great.

Loved that show for many years now.

I remember when I first started watching it at 4 and still watch it now.

Provided many laughs for myself and the repeats still are worth watching although I've seen them many a time.

It's a pity they are only up to Season 4 on the box sets.

I love them, but I dont really like the newer episodes.

They seem to focused on celebrity guest appearances and far-fetched storylines now days.

Prefer the old episodes where they just made fun of everything and when Homer was at his best.

I still get a chuckle out of the old episodes I've seen over and over.

I'm afraid I just don't get it. Why is that show so popular? To me it just isn't funny.

I voted yes, but conditionally. The first 7-8 seasons were brilliant, then it slipped. I refuse to watch any episode produced by Mike Scully. Some of those are absolutely unwatchable.

Al Jean took back control a couple of years ago and has been trying to fix it, with mixed results.

I disagree with the general consensus. I found the first three season or so to be quite ordinary. The show imo peaked around season 6 and is STILL almost as good. I prefer the new ones.

Can't watch the really old one's, find them just depressing. Still enjoy the newer episodes.

It's still my favourite show.

Seasons 4 through 10 are unmatched in television history. The last few aren't quite in the same echelon. I've also noticed that every new episode seems to have one of three things in it:

1. Homer raising his fist at someone and telling them to "do it..." or some such command.

2. A reference to Lenny and Carl's odd relationship.

3. Someone pulling on their collar and making a "duh-nnggg" sound when they realise something has gone horribly amiss.

The last few seasons have been rubbish. I'll still more likely than not buy the DVD's as I'm an idiot.

I agree with what someone said above in that i cant watch the really old episodes like the first few seasons when it wasnt as funny and the animation was poor. The early-mid nineties were sick simpsons but now....

That Hank Scorpio was the best Simpsons episode ever.

Also the halloween one where marge goes "Oh homer your not going as a hobo again are you" and homer (in bum clothes eating beans) goes "Going where?"
