Ryan Bain and Ben Jolley.

Not a bad mix. A classy finisher and a hard working midfielder.

Very happy with Jolley, he possesses natural leadership skills that saw him captain Vic Metro this year and a good work ethic. Probably a bit slight, but he finds plenty of the footy and does kick goals as well.

A pretty good mix.

Oh and Pazza, sorry to say that Guy Campbell went to Sydney.
They took him with the pick directly after our first.
Robbie Forster-Knight back to Port Ad.

Good luck to them both.

Medium Midfielders:
Ryan Bain, Oakleigh, VIC. Consistently finds space and the footy.

Couldn't find any more info on Ryan and none on Ben Jolley.

Ryan Bain
Details:
Club: Bulleen Templestowe/Oakleigh
DOB: 7 January 1986 Hgt: 184cm Wgt: 81kg
Position: Wing
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Victoria Metro 2004
Interchange in TAC Cup Team of the Year 2004
National Draft Camp 2004

TAC Stats:
2003: 7 games, 3 goals, 16.7 PPG
2004: 16 games, 20 goals, 19.9 PPG

Strengths: Bain has had a tremendous 2004, playing some great football for Oakleigh and Vic Metro. He is a classy wingman who always looks balanced with the football and is a very nice mover.

Bain has very clean hands and likes to carry the footy, causing real damage with his disposals. Is a good finisher in front of goals as well.

Weaknesses: Very much a top age player, and might need to work on his accountability for direct opponent. Tends to be more of an outside player.

Footydraft.com comment: Bain has been one of the big improvers this year and his classy finishing will make him a handy player, providing he can work on the defensive side of his game.

Ben Jolley
Details:
Club: Strathmore/Calder
DOB: 12 February 1986 Hgt: 183cm Wgt: 69kg
Position: Ruck Rover
Natural Foot: Left

Honours:
Victoria Metro 2004 (Captain)
Ruck Rover in TAC Cup Team of the Year 2004
State Screening Camp 2004

TAC Stats:
2002: 3 games, 0 goals, 3.3 PPG
2003: 17 games, 2 goals, 15.6 PPG
2004: 18 games, 8 goals, 21.2 PPG

Strengths: The captain of Victoria Metro, Jolley is a hard working centreman who specialises in winning clearances. He really gets in and under and is very courageous with his work in close. Ben has great hands in close and good vision.

He will work very hard defensively with tackling and smothering, and covers a lot of territory over the course of a game. He is also a good leader, captaining both Calder and Victoria Metro in 2004.

Weaknesses: Kicking can be erratic, tends to kick around corners a lot. Although he gathers a lot of possessions can fail to damage the opposition enough at times. Not super quick.

Footydraft.com comment: Not a super strong draft for inside midfielders, which should see several clubs look at Jolley closely. I guess the concern is his size - would need to put on some muscle if he is going to play a ruck roving role at AFL level.

Hey it's all good Longy. Believe me I couldn't be happier that Campbell is finally getting a go at an AFL club and Sydney with it's genuine lack of talls is a good place to go.

Bain and Jolley sound like 2 good prospects.

Went to school at Marcellin with Ryan, although he was a few years younger so didnt play any school footy with him. From what I have seen of him, he has good hands and loves a goal on the run, was a terrific junior cricketer as well, another cricketer lost to the AFL.. ...I'll be watching him with interest next year anyway.

How can BOTH of our pickups make the tac cup team of the year and not get drafted in the national draft? Baffling. Could be great pickups judging by this.
