Yea, I think a South Melbourne jumper would be good. I dont think you really need it now.

Use the South Melbourne jumper for the away strip

Change the home strip to the reverse of the South jumper - ie: white V on a red background

The convention is dark for home and light away . Even though the Swans jumper doesn't really clash . The South's jumper is ideal for away games and also reminds us of our history .

The funny thing is that Collingwood have have ideal away guernsey but Eddie wont let them wear the traditional (white back) strip .And it's really the back of the jumpers that is the problem because they are plain .

The current Sydney guernsey is fine.

Sydney have never been thought of as a team that clashes with anyone.
The only reason to bring out a Clash jumper is for merchandising revenues.
If that's of interest, use the Heritage jumper.

If the AFL decrees that every club has to have a Clash jumper, they have already stated they will go the whole hog and make clubs wear jumpers that will not clash in any way with the clubs they are supposed to clash with.
Eg if Brisbane is thought of as a potential Clash, the Sydney jumper must not be red, maroon or blue.
I guess it leaves white, with some other colour, though not red.

The club's new constitution specifically states that the colours must be red and white.

Same argument Essendon have.
However, if the AFL tells clubs they need an alternate and it has to be in different colours, or they lose match points or similar penalty, how quickly will the constitution be changed?

There is a story on Skilton in Inside Sport this month, the photo shows him in the traditional red V on white with red collar. No logos or badge, it looks unreal. They should jump on the retro bandwagon and release a limited run of them, like the ARL have done.

I know this post is not really answering the question, but hey....

Yeah but the old strip was different, a deeper, wider V and no QBE and stuff on it. The heritage jumper did look great though.

Not quite. Doesn't the Essendon argument claim that the design itself, rather than just the colours, is protected by the constitution?

The Swans are on rock-solid ground. Change the dominant colour from red to white, and you've got a completely different looking jumper, as the 2004 heritage round demonstrated.
