Doesn't look completely terrible, if you believe the hype surrounding our draftees. :) You'd have to think a few of these won't make it though.
If we're looking at five years' time you might see an ageing Brown and Bowden in there for experience as well.
Gilmour is probably a forward/mid from all accounts.
I'd swap Meyer and Deledio from what I've heard of their playing styles.
Jackson will probably be more of a midfielder than a KPP, so if you're feeling overly optimistic you could shove Thursfield in at Full Back. We might have to recruit at least one player in the next five years. ;)
Lastly, the forward line is way too small. Krakouer, Tambling and Rodan all in the same forward line? One of those guys is going to have to be a midfielder so we can put another tall forward in there, probably a specialist CHF so our ruckmen don't have to rest in such an important position.
Not bad though.

A lot of things wrong with that team.

yep, there are many things wrong with that team.
half these players wont make it
we probably WILL recriut some new players in the next five years
we don't know which position these players will be best in.
It is fun to speculate however, and the real point of this is that we can put together a reasonable team just from young recriuts.
How is this then?

Why on earth would you play a 198cm CHF/Ruck in a back pocket?
Meyer will not be an ruck rover, you want his skills delivering the ball lace out to our forwards
Jackson will be a key component of our midfield, not a defender
Gilmour is a rover/forward pocket goal sneak, not a back flanker

Some spanners still, and obviously some untrieds/unprovens.
The team would look a truckload better without Knobel in it.

Hope to Christ we draft a ruckman which is class or Pattison becomes a gun in the Simmonds/Darcy mold. :)
Pattison will be our future CHF/FF/Ruck not a Back Pocket

I'm doing this with the assumptions that Campbell, Graham, Stafford, Richardson, Kellaway, Gaspar, Chaffey, Brown, Johnson, Bowden, Simmonds, Hilton and Tivendale are all not in the team.
FB ******* Thursfield ********
HB ****** Schultz ********
C *******Coughlan ******
HF ****** Pattison ********

Our spine won't be the problem as Archibald and Mcguane are two KPP options we have, and Polo and Deledio are two centre options.
This is before any draftees in the next 5 years.
Our problem is we have too many Rover-type players.
Tambling, Rodan, Roach, Hartigan, Gilmour and Foley are all these types.
I consider Raines a pure winger.
Krakeour is not a rover, but a definite FP player.
At this stage Knobel can have the ruck position.
So we'll try and add them all in.

FF Gilmour Limbach Krakeour

What i now notice is that we have a bit of versatility in most areas on the ground.
Deledio is giving me a headache, as i don't know where to put him.
We have enough Rovers/Wingers/Forward Pocket type players.
We have 7 young KP options on our list, and getting another 3 would have that area covered, however a recognised ruckmen and defender are a must IMO.
You can fill in the gaps with players like Hyde, Newman, Rodan and Meyer.
Picking what the team will be in 5 years is next to impossible, as you don't know who where gonna draft, trade for, and who's not going to make it.
Whats this Polo kid like??

Lets not forget that Jackson played full back this year and quite well too.
Pattison may well have to replace Knobel in the ruck, as I felt a bit dirty having to include him
Hammerfire, Deledio will be our rover without a doubt along with Coughlan and Newman/Rodan/Tambling/Hyde/Hartigan

I think Deledio will turn into a utility, but of a far greater quality than other players of that type.
The coaching team will try him in a bunch of different positions, and see which one his best at, and should focus on that area.
Obviously, it has to be in the midfield.
Deledio a 188-190cm rover? Sorry don't think so
Ruck Rover maybe, will have to see how much of his own ball he will win
He could end up taking Sugar's spot, but I think Jackson will be the one to do that

I would have Deledio playing HF, rotating on the ball to give others a breather.
His height up forward will be an asset in the future.

Jacko did quite well at FB, indeed.
But you see him there in the future?

Deledio's postion will be as a midfeilder. He will be a ruck-rover in the old talk.
However, his abilty to play neally every postion on the ground is a great bonus. I see him as playing half back flank, half forward flank and and at times full forward.

Havent heard much about him except that he is a good tagger in the U/18 comp this year he tagged Ryan Griffen and took him right out of the game and must be pretty disciplined

Yep. From all accounts he is a good kid.
All Australian, TAC cup team of the year, Vic Country player. A pure midfielder which can god very well in the tagging role, averaged 25 touches last season.
He isnt overly big yet but by all accounts one of the most hard at it blokes going around and works hard.
From what I remember he wont his teams B&F?

Have in a way only skimmed through this in my haste to point out what I Consider Tiges biggest deficiency - HEIGHT. Gas is our tallest defender (at 192cm), whilst Richo & Simmons are the only 2 other TALLS guaranteed to make the side (if fit). Hall on his day. Depends too on what you call tall. In Tiger terms 191cm is huge. No wonder Sheeds was so happy with that little pr**ck Fletcher. I now hear people talking Jackson & Moore for FB. Whilst recognising that Mal Michael is only 192cm, he tends to be the exception rather than the rule

Also Polo, have big hopes. Can only go on posted descriptions like most people, but seems to have ruggedness and persistance to perhaps be a talented version of Fleming(hope that doesn't sound unkind)

I don't claim to be an expert, but I have always thought that a defender does not have to be quite sotall as their opponent because they only need to spoil the ball rather than mark it.
That said, we do have a swag of 190 types, and not much in the Pattison category. I'd prefer a couple of taller types, but they are rarely versitile.
If I had to chose, I would take a mobile 190 type over a lumbering 200cm.
I think Jackson could work at full back. Sheer body weight to push out his opponent may be enough. Hopefully Shulz will slot in to defence as well.
I agree with Jackson being bred at full back and possibly developing into a Fletcher/Leppitch type player.

It's the hair, isn't it?
If he's as good as people think, we'd be much better using him in the big-bodied midfielder, Pavlich type role.

Kelvin Moore is a natural defender.if he continues to bulkup IMO he should be our next fullback.
Would be ironic considering his namesake.lets hope the irony dosent stop there :D

I hope your right mate.
If Moore develops into a A grade full back it'd be great for us. At the very least I want him to develop into a player good enough to hold down down and become a regular back 6 player, prolly the 3rd tall.
