Richmond has set a new Christmas membership record . . .

As at close of business yesterday (Tuesday, December 21), the Tigers had broken through the 12,000 membership barrier for the first time in the lead-up to Christmas.

The Club had 12,149 ticketed members, a 12.7% increase on the corresponding time last year, and 2914 non-ticketed members, which is 15.2% up.

“It has been very pleasing to see such a terrific response from our existing and new members’ pre-Christmas,” said Richmond’s Consumer Marketing Manager Trent Jacobs.

“There is definitely an air of excitement with the positive changes that have been made over the past 4-6 months at the Club, and this has been reinforced by our membership tallies before Christmas.

“Moving into 2005, we are looking forward to all areas of the Club uniting and moving forward with plenty of optimism. An integral ingredient for this to come to fruition will be to ensure that our members and supporters are 100% behind us.

“We’re confident that we’ll continue to receive a great response from the Yellow and Black faithful in 2005 . . .”

*Please note that the Richmond Football Club offices will be closed from 5pm on Thursday, December 23 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 5.

Not bad for a wooden spoon winning club.

Imagine our numbers after a period of sustained success. I imagine we'd be challenging Adelaide.

The club and colors are attractive to new eyes, and with a lil success an entirely new generation will soon be forming a large part of the massive Tiger Army.

Ive heard from a pretty good source that the waverley park booty for the Hawks that amounted to 700k per annum in recent years was camaflagued in the membership revenue...work it out prob 5-6000 members by the name of rover, woofer, chooka ...with the tap now turned off dont be suprised if their membership drops form 31k to 25-26,000 members

Yet this rumour has done the rounds, and has yet to be disproved.

hi everyone this is my 1st post. so go easy please.

if we compare ourselves to the hawks and doggies that would be even sadder than their paltry membership figures.

we must be aiming to compete the other 3 BIG victorian clubs. we need to operate as a successful club. i would rather we set the standards high and got close than try to compare ourselves with the small fan based minnows of the comp.

so although its great to be where we are right now, and congrats to all that have signed up, we shouldn't be slapping each other on the back yet.

although your post has good intentions this thread was made with the delibrate attempt to stick it up some of those other posters from the "minnow clubs" that we have something they will never have .......a very large and loyal fan base.

stick around a bit longer and you will see what I'm talking about.

i would rather them read that i wouldn't be compared to those scums anyday of the week in regards to anything let alone fan loyalty and membership. i think that would hurt them more
