Is on 10 on Wed night, one of my favorite Sci Fi movies, not set too far in the future, I like the bit about Shuttles blasting off everyday, its got a good cast as well.

Hrmm imagine if that our future, screning children before they are born, allowing only those physically perfect to be created.
Imagine what the world would miss.

Reeks of VCE, though.

2001 Space Odyssey > Gattaca for that reason.

Brilliant movie, I most certainly will be watching it & taping it as well minus the ads so I can watch it ad free in the future.

Not that far fetched the way the world seems to be heading these days & that's the scary part. :o

Sure is.. Sci Fi for toddlers.

I'm not knocking the movies, just the fact that you can take your 8 year olds to see these movies & they would be entertained, where as Gattaca wouldn't interest them.

Interesting thing about the scheduling of this movie is the destination is Titan a moon of Saturn, and this week a probe named 'Huygens' separated from the Cassini space ship to land on Titan and send images back to Earth, clever programming at Ten.

No, it's true.

I am sure lobbing an aliens arm off, destroying a planet and attempting to kill one of the major characters is intended for a general audience comprising of children.

Whether or not movies may look "more awesome or interesting" for kids is irrelevant. Star Wars has aspects in it that kids cannot comprehend, such as political matters and the struggle for independence. This is central to the plot... the rest of it such as comic releif and eye candy is secondary. I'll grant you that Episode I was targeted towards the "newer generation" moreso, but the original triliogy, especially Empire, was never intended to be a kids' movie.

And neither will be episode III... as dark as it will be. And as for Star Trek, the crap that's on that show, kids would never understand what is ever going on. The storylines and dialogue for one thing is complicated.

You ever seen Wizard of Oz Thrawn?

Ever listen closely to fairytales.. Much scarier than Star Wars on that angle.

Yeah, ages ago.

My point was that the original trilogy was not intended for children... but for all ages pretty much (with the emphasis on young adults to above).
