View Full Version : Derby No1.
I'm getting bored waiting for season 05.
Here is my suggested team for the first derby of the year. Wizard Cup game 1.
Hayden Warren Woods
Headland Thornton Dodd
Black Haselby Schammer
Mcmanus Pavlich Gilmore
Crowley Polak Peake
Sandi Browne Cook
Grover Johnson Smith Seigert Haines Webster
Good to leave a bit up our sleeves for the real stuff and try some new blood. It is effectively an under 24 side with a couple of exceptions being the older players not in the best 22 IMO.
If your bored too you might like to give me your thoughts and your side?

Probably might be a half strength team but if it was a full strength side it should look something like
FB Thronton Haddrill Hayden
HB Gilmore McPharlin Headland
C Black Haselby Schammer
HF M Carr Pavlich Farmer
FF Murphy Polak Medhurst
RUCK J Longmuir Bell J Carr
INT Walker Sandilands Parker Dodd
Josh Carr is a certainty to run in dockers colours for the first time in the derby wizard cup game because all new players get a run in the first pre season game. So will Schofield.

What about Schofield and Carr? Teams usually like to show off their new recruits in the Wizard Cup!

Yeah I definitely want to see Josh having a run in the Wiz Derby.

i wouldn't be surprised if round 1 was as close to full strength as injuries and conditioning permitted.
Much like this season if I remember somewhat correctly. Then it was a game or 2 later in one of the scratch matches we played all our youngsters.

No room for Mundy, Murphy or Campbell in that side?
Tell me who you would leave out to give them a run Fat Wombat. That was the idea of the question, not to throw up EXTRA names.
In regard to J Carr, personally I would prefer us to keep a bit up our sleeves, not to lay all our cards on the table for a Wizard Cup game. Theres a bigger prize to be won and it is a long season (hopefully). Just my opinion but Voodoo, Pav, Wellsy and azza you will probably be closer to what actually happens.

Nice 22, except I would replace Gilmore with Webster.

u cant afford to keep anything up your sleeves. Get em all out there and play them as many games as they can together so they are cherry ripe for rd 1.

Realistically it's the intra-club games that will sort out which youngsters will get a go in the pre-season. It will show who is ready and who isn't ready to step up and have a crack.
Let em duke it out!
