Can any AFC supporters comment on the rumour going around town that Norwood have approached the AFC/SANFL about moving their base to Norwood Oval? The rumour is rife at the Parade - all throughout the pubs and cafes there.

Apologies to AFC supporters - I posted this on AFL board in error. I am very interested to hear if anyone has heard the strong rumour going around all the pubs and cafes on the Parade about Norwood approaching the AFC/SANFL to have the AFC social and training base relocated to Norwood. I believe Norwood have instigated it.

It a done deal, the AFC have released a statement just this morning that the millions and millions of dollars they have spend on upgrading the administration and players facilities at AAMI stadium are a waste of time and money because we are moving to the Norwood oval to make it a East vs. West football system in Adelaide . As of February 1st they will be bulldozed for more paraphernalia of the Port Adelaide 2004 premiership season at AAMI to be on show :D

Even if for one second you are being serious the likely hood of the Adelaide football club relocating to the parade is never going to happen. As much as Port Adelaide supporters dislike the intangibility attributes of the AFC’s “the team for all South Australians” slogan they will not move to a suburban ground and alienate possibly 65% of it season ticket holders and members.

Now come on Crows 98, I am fully aware of the investment by the Crows at West Lakes and I certainly can't see it happening myself. That's not to say they have not been approached by Norwood. I am sure there are plenty of AFC supporters who live in the eastern suburbs and frequently stroll through the Parade - I would be interested to hear from them if they have heard the rumour.

Have a safe and happy new year ...well not too happy football wise. :D

If l lived on or near the parade (which I don’t) I would be very excited to get the AFC to relocate their social club to the area, and so would nearly every business (expect the hospitality industries) because it would generate more consumers from out side the area that would potentially spend money, but I can not see the AFC even being remotely interested in the move.

It would be the only thing that could save Norwood.

Maybe a crows takeover, like North Adelaide at Greenacres, and Norwood become the Crows reserves side..............Nah it won't happen.

Maybe then we can have a 130-years of makeshift history and tradition for all crows’ fans to swoon over as it happens at Alberton.

Na l like the 13 years of honest and clean-cut traditional style we have created.

I bloody hope not!!!

It would not make sense anyway. Isnt the Parade heritage listed? From memory the NFC are having trouble upgrading the Redlegs facilities due to the heritage listing. How would the Crows fit in there? It's a crazy idea.

For mine, If the Crows ever did move it would have to be close to or in the CBD. They should have their own space and continue as the ADELAIDE CROWS, not become East Adelaide or part of Norwood or some other SANFL club. I Never liked the mid 90's bid by Norwood to take us over. Arrogant bastards.

Mind you ... I would like us to have a pub in the CBD as I believe that the Adelaide football club should have a presence in Adelaide.

There would be more of a chance that I will play AFL footy than the AFC relocating to the Parade.

If that ever happens then, I expect you to nominate for the draft. :p
