Ex-missus and I got up and walked out of the cinema three-quarters of the way through it. Half the audience had already done so earlier on.

The Cars that ate Paris.
1974 Australian flick which can best described as totally f*ckin' warped. These out of control cars with minds of thier own start terrorising some NSW country town which is already seriously backward (Australia's answer to Royston Vasey). Eventually the cars run amuck and flatten the town.

REALLY warped.

Taras Bulba.

Slaughtering the novel by Gogol, Tony Curtis plays a Cossak with a Brooklyn accent.

"Yanda liaaas da castal of my fadda."

Horrible.

Though I think it may take second place in the list of movie infamy to the previously mentioned The Conqueror, starring John Wayne as Mongol chief Temujin, (Ghengis Khan).

"Well hey thar Chinese partner, prepare to get slaughtered, uuuu hagh!"

The movie not only died, but many of the actors and 91 of the crew died of cancer latter in life, including John Wayne, as the movie was shot near active nuclear testing sites in Utah.

So this may not only be the worst movie of all time, but also the deadliest.

...Tony Curtis plays a Cossak with a Brooklyn accent...
Mentioning Tony Curtis has reminded me of The Vikings. It wasn't a bad movie. It starred Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas amongst others. Kirk Douglas was a really hard Viking bastard, with a huge scar on his face. Tony Curtis on the other hand was always wearing tights and hanging around with the women. At the climax of the movie Kirk and Tony fight it out, and Curtis wins! There was not a kid in the audience, myself included, who believed for one second that Tony Curtis could have beaten Kirk Douglas in a fight. It was a movie moment that will forever live in infamy imo.

JW Frogen
1 Jan 2005, 23:19
I have not seen that movie Count, but I too would find it hard to believe that Curtis would take out Kirk Douglas.

Speaking of these two I am reminded of a scene in Spartacus between Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas, (a movie I do believe is very good), everytime I see the scene where Tony Curtis says "I love ya Spartacus." I break up laughing. It just doesn't work for me.

There's an old Aussie film, filmed in Sydney probably mid-80s. Was called The Thirteenth floor.

Was meant to be a horror of sorts. I reckon I could make a better film with my camera phone. Better still, by drawing little stick creatures in the corner of a book and flicking the pages would be better.

Also a film I saw recently on DVD, called 'Manson'.

About the Manson family, which Id already read up on a fair amount over the years. Reading Helter Skelter at 13, which was authored by the Prosecuting Attorney.

This film wasn't bad for the story it portrayed, more the way it portrayed the story.

The filmaker gave no insight into the human psyche of people like these.

I cant quite express how this film made me feel, except it left me open-mouthed at the question of what the filmakers intentions were.

I came away from that film feeling as though it was to glorify the Manson Family, and to glorify killing iun general.

Even the credits were in a way hypnotising and made me fear that it would actually encourage someone succeptiable to thoughts of senseless murder, to actually go out and do them.

I was quite disgusted by the film, and that doesnt happen often. I managed to sit through The Naked Lunch which is rather bizarre. But I hated this film because I thought it was promoting and glorifying murder and The Manson Family themselves.

Does it tell it like it was or does it glorify what they did as the one SaveFerris saw seems to do?

I've learned a fair bit about the Manson Family through becoming a Beach Boys fan because sadly they were heavily involved in the story for a while there.

Yes, unfortunately Lioness, the Beach Boys were involved with Manson, as he tried to forge a career in recording. Manson had a lot to do with them in the family's early days.

Ah sounds interesting then.

Yeah the Beach Boys recorded a couple of Manson's songs. There is one, 'Never Learn Not To Love' (aka Cease To Exist) that I picked as the Manson song even before I was told! It's creepy. The things I know about their involvement are: Dennis Wilson picked up a few of the girls and they took him to meet Manson and they all moved into his house and he got them recorded by the Beach Boys, and that was met by a lot of opposition (understandably) and as I understand it, the attacks on Sharon Tate and her companions were carried out because they thought Terry Melcher lived in the house. Melcher produced many hits of the time for groups related to the Beach Boys so he was involved with the group also. I wouldn't have a clue if that's fact or not but I've heard it said.

The Manson Family cost Dennis Wilson hundreds of thousands of dollars and also from that point on, he feared for his life and actually never spoke about what had happened, well at least publicly, for the rest of his life.

I also read in a Beatles book about Manson's interpretation of the songs on their White Album. That was fairly chilling stuff too.

Sorry to drag this thread slightly off topic here!!

No, I wasn't there. I didn't yell action. I didn't yell cut. I didn't even make a sandwich for the catering department.

But it's common knowledge that the producers ripped them off blind and the bushmen never saw a cent of the profits which were quite substantial considering 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' was made on a shoestring and was a worldwide box-office smash.

"Nothing but trouble" Had a fantastic cast (John Candy, Chevy Chase, Demi Moore & Dan Ackroyd) I remember being really excited when I saw some shorts of it & thinking it would be a great comedy but was absolutely shocking. Should be erased from all human memory.
