and out of tomorrow's game in Hobart

Gilchrist with a knee injury, Gillespie with calf soreness. Haddin called up to replace Gilchrist, Katich likely to be fit to play and McGrath also available. All expected to be available for the next game in Brisbane on Friday

They might as well rest the whole team. They are only playing Pakistan. ;)

Probably a good thing for Gillespie that he has a rest (even if its injury-enforced). His bowling tapered off as the summer progressed and failed to get a big bag of wickets in any of the 5 Tests.

Gilchrist was always going to be rested during this comp, so I'm not reading much into his "injury". It's likely just to be a bit of soreness, which he can play with anyway.

Now we will finally see the world record broken for most extras in an innings. Haddin and Lee, what a combination. Wide, Wide, 4, 4 No ball, Bye Bye Bye, No Ball, Wide No Ball, Bye. 4,4,6 Bye, Bye, Bye will be Lees first two overs

Lee didn't bowl a single wide or no ball yesterday.

I don't particulary rate Haddin either, but who else is there?

Sorry, forgot about Campbell, but he cant even get a game for WA. Maher has kept in One Dayers for Aus before

Campbell has kept ODIs as well and he is actually a keeper. If not him, what about Croswaithe (sp?)? Afterall, you want someone who can keep.

But Campbell is finished. I think he said the 20/20 would be his last one dayer as he cant get a game with Ronchi playing now.

Pick a Victorian? Never going to happen

Your probably right about Campbell, but there are shed loads of keepers out there that I would pick before bothering with Maher. Hell, I'd even go with Langer - he has kept for Aus before.

Id go with Ian Harvey. He was always a keeper untill he decided he would never break into the Victorian side as a keeper ahead of Berry so took up bowling

just a hypothetical for you guys: Say that Gillespie's injury rules him out of the rest of the VB series, who is our next in line pace bowler?
Wright. Bracken. Lewis. Bichel. Tait. Williams. or someone else???

I'd go with Bracken, never really deserved to lose his one day spot imo. Same could be said for Williams.

Got to rest your keeper at times...pity the folks in Hobart miss out on seeing Gilly, though....why not rest him in Melbourne for a game?
Fast bowlers- Bic has to be the man- does it all in the one day game...but why not go for youth?

And while on resting folks- the same needs to be said for the Tests- the team plays a lot- I'd rather have a guy sit out a Test (not go back and play state cricket) then keep trotting them out all the time. Know it is not CA policy, but you have to watch how much these guys are playing....done judiciously, rotation could be a positive thing for playing careers.
