in the first week of the Finals? That's if we make it :D

I'm predicting that we'll beat St.Kilda @ the SCG this weekend but lose to Brisbane @ the Gabba, that will mean that we'll most probably remain seventh, I'm predicting Adelaide (8th) to beat Freo but lose to Hawthorn, also finishing on 48pts but with the Swans having the better percentage.

I'm predicting that Richmond will beat the Kangaroos but lose to Essendon to finish 6th, while Carlton (I'm predicting they will account for Collingwood and Geelong) will leap-frog Richmond to finish 5th.

This would make Richmond our first week finalist opponents at the MCG. It could be a win-able match, hoping that the Swans come out to fire.

Though, we've got to get through the next 2 matches in the meantime! Crossing fingers we beat St.Kilda :)

yep - it certainly looks like 7th or 8th will be the best we can manage this year.

Kinda puts those woeful performances against Melbourne last Sunday and Geelong in Round 13 in perspective hey ?

Those were two very poor efforts and we are NOt a contender this year because of them.

I think we will be playing Carlton at Colonial Stadium in the Finals.

After that is anyone's guess, but a trip to Footy Park to play Port Adelaide looms.

So, Carlton (or Richmond) at Colonial first up and then maybe Port Adelaide at Footy Park after that.

Hey - I reckon both of these games are winnable and are not such daunting assignments. Its quite possible we could get as far as the PF this year.

But lets see what sort of shape we finish the H&A season first shall we ?

cheers

I think the Crows will beat Hawthorn this week, leaving them 7th and Sydney 8th. I think Carlton will win 2 giving them 4th. This has us against Richmond or Hawthorn depending on percentage.

Might win that game, but it doesn't look too rosy after that. Last week was very costly. Actually so was the game against Melbourne earlier in the season that got away.

Well...
Im not convinced Carlton will be Collingwood this week
But I think they'll win their final game of the year (vs geelong i think)...

Adelaide I believe will beat Hawthorn aswell, simply because Hawthorn will not have Crawford...
They will also win their final game against Fremantle...

Sydney should win this week, and I wouldnt fully count them out against Brisbane ...
Remember.. they play well against the big teams ..
we'll see, I wouldnt write that down as a loss yet ..

Either way, we are 'probably' going to be playing Richmond, Carlton or Hawthorn in Melbourne.. I am confident we can win any of those three matches (thats on the theory we turn up to play, which we should, being finals time and all, there are no Melbournes or St Kildas in the finals, so we shouldnt have a problem there!)

im not too sure who we'll be playing in the finals
we will beat st.kilda this week i know its hard to believe after last week but i think people underestimated the impact young stones death had on the players and also the narrow loss to the bombers but hopefully that is behind them now and we can go on and have a good win this week
as for opponents im not sure there are a lot of possibilities
but it would be out of carlton richmond and hawthorn i would think
and i hope it is hawthorn

just thought i'd drop in and wish your lot luck for sunday whilst really hoping that you play the same diabolical standard that you displayed last week against the dees.

as for talk about who you will be playing in the finals, ha, talk about counting your goslings before they hatch. lose the next two games and the only thing your club will be doing during the first week of the finals is deciding on who you can draft to replace the old crocks and tall, slow hacks that have consistently delivered you medicrity. but who really knows how far you can go with a bit of luck.

well done to luffy, i always admire a bloke that makes the most of their abilities and has a laugh along the way.

talk around moorabbin is that your mob are interested in barry hall, will be interesting to see how many he kicks on sunday. if he kicks more than 10 then we'll know that he's trying to impress his new employer. he'd fit in well with all the low iq league followers from your neck of the woods, or is it only the fashionable chardonay set that frequents the scg these days.

a sobering thought for you lot is if you lose sunday you will be the saints one and only 'bitches' for the year. ;)

good luck
the best team will win.

Thanks STL, fair point about counting our goslings! I think all Swans fans have a real fear that we could lose this one, even though we shouldn't.

I've heard the Barry Hall rumours as well, Sydney do need a forward and maybe Barry would benefit from being away from the "fishbowl" in Melbourne. Maybe the Swans figure that big angry ex-St Kilda forwards fit in well up here!

Cheers

Apparaently Hall has been the 'guest' of the Locketts for much of the weekend that Saint Kilda was in Sydney.

Getting 'verballed' about how grouse it is for former bad-tempered Saint Kilda Full Fowards to come to Sydney probably !

Bazza has a great lead, strong hands and an accurate kick. He could wreak havoc on the pocket-sized SCG...

cheers

well you can start counting your signets now, your officially in the finals and good luck to you's all. in my last post i meant to be clever and say signets, instead i said goslings making it fairly obvious who the goose is. :D

i had to drive for 3 hours to try and catch the game 'live' on the net (good riddance ch7). after gunning the commodore along the hume hwy, screeeeching up the driveway, waiting for my computer to boot up and getting on the net it was 10 minutes into the 2nd quarter and we were only 2 points behind (woo hoo). i quickly rushed to the fridge grabbed a beer and then listened as your mob slammed on 8 unanswered goals and completely blew the saints away before 1/2 time. i fu*ken knew i should have stopped for a counter meal in shepparton, how come the car never breaks down when you need it to, a 4 hr traffic jam would have been less stressful than listening to the description of this game.

the barry hall situation is an interesting one. if he is keen on going to sydney, imho only a slight chance, you would have to trade to get him. even though he is out of contract the saints could play hard ball by simply threatening to delist him and it would then be a lottery to who drafts him. who or what could sydney offer in return for hall, and be realistic as we dont need any more slow dim witted ruckman.;)

oh and bsa just one little thing, there are two melbourne suburbs situated down by port phillip bay, 1 named south melbourne and the other st kilda. one suburb lost it's soul and football side to the evil sin city up north the other suburb is still named st kilda and has a fooball side named the same. ;)

in my obscure way i'm just being pedantic and pointing out that the name of the club is st kilda not saint kilda.

if push came to shove with hall's negotiations then jason saddington would be worth considering for a trade, but i still think the saints should do everything they can to keep hall. he is just starting to mature as a footballer and is capable of kicking 80+ goals a year. to lose him as he is reaching his peak would be extremely disappointing.
