Does the VB series need a overhaul?
Alot has been said about it's current triangular format.
Any ideas for a new revamped one?

Yes it does. The triangular system isn't working however, if they reduced the price of tickets to the WI V Pak, they'd get more people there. Asking people to pay the same price is a bit rich IMO.
Alternately, having a three team series in which Australia plays a 5 game series against WI and then a 5 game series against Pak would be better.
I think it's only cos we're wanting something new and fresh that we're even saying this.
I hope the 20/20 doesn't become a national competition, I'd rather it to be a lure for district and domestic comps.

Just having a quick look at ticketmaster7, the prices in Perth and Brisbane are both cheaper for the WI v Pak games...

Exactly. It's only because we cream everyone that the neutral games are of any interest at all. I would rather the 5 v Windies and 5 v Pakis.

no, it doesn't need an overhaul
would the Australian Cricketers Association allow them to play 10 games? I would have thought 6-8 (possibly including a couple of 20-20 games) would be the most they'd agree to

You didn't think this one out did you?
VB Series: 4 v Team A, 4 v Team B, 2 or 3 finals (almost every year)
They already play 10 games, and one year, it was 5 v each team.
The only advantage of the neutral games is to give our cricketers a rest.

No doubt it needs an overhaul.
Considering that every game is a sellout fo Australia matches (MCG was'nt but that was because everyone went to the Tsunami game) but there getting dodgy crowds to the other mobs playing each other.
What they need is simply two different One day series with Australia playing only one mob, because most of the time there simply playing for second anyway.

obviously not... :o :( (forgot about the finals)

Not sure what the answer might be but it does need a change or two.

Its alright.
I think the only disappointing thing is the seeming lack of competition... If all the teams where really competitive it would be fantastic... but every now and then we get a dud one sided series...

Thats the key issue, we need decent opposition.

Not sure wether it needs an overhaul or not, but what it definately needs is three evenly matched teams.
This summer seems to me to be one of the flattest I can ever remember.
If it still isn't garnering decent support with the three evenly matched sides, then yes, an overhaul would perhaps need to be looked at.

How about
Team A comes and plays 3 tests and 3 ODIs at the 6 venues across all states
Team B comes out and also plays 3 tests and 3 ODIs at the 6 venues across all states
So each state gets a Test and a ODI. They get to see both teams and we dont have a drawn out series where one team is already guaranteed a final spot and you waste a month for the VB series. Instead you only have one week for the one dayers.
When a team that may challenge comes out then you can change the format around to have more matches
With the CH series, we will have 6 tests and 9 ODIs without dragging out the summer to much

There is no way this series will be as boring as any of the series' that has featured Zimbabwe. Both Pakistan AND the West Indies have the players and the ability to knock Australia off. They would have to play out of their skin, but they have the ABILITY to do it. Zimbabwe is a farce to World cricket at the moment, and I hope we don't see them back for years to come.
Anyone for an AUST/ZIM/BANG series?????????
In the history of the ODI series in AUST, They (Aust) have only not made the finals something like 3-4 times. That says it all.
I agree with the other posts regarding 5 games against team 1, and 5 games against team 2. That way we don't have to sit thru a long winded boring series.

a 5 match one Day series between Aus and whatever side always seems to be the more competitive option
The past few years since Aus missed the final in 2002, it's Aus winning all the matches and the other two teams fighting for 2nd all the way. It's kinda sad

There has been 2 problems this year
Too many of those Aust A games ion TV. Should be a break instead to whet the appetite
Tennis moving back a week hasn't helped either
