thanks turtle27.
McGuane seems to have high regard for the Bulldogs and their chances under Rodney Eade, without going over the top, as many tend to do this time of year.
There seems to be a feeling that 2006 will be the year when the dogs near top gear.

McGuane says he thinks whilst the dogs will improve, they will win about 8 or 9 games and miss the eight.
Also says that with the amount of ball the dogs win will mean they will be in with a chance in most matches, he said Eade has them fitter and stronger, and IMO sounds like he wouldnt be that shocked if the dogs did jump up to compete for a finals spot.
McGuane thinks Brad Johnson may be captain, because of his age will allow him to be captain for a while.
Robert Murphy mentions that most players feel as though they are stronger and fitter than last year, and the team is now starting to work on a Rodney Eade game style that will be based a hard running system.

Agree with pretty much everything he said - only thing i disagree with is i would make Darcy captain, just reckon we need a big strong physical presence. I've always been impressed with McGuanes thoughts on footy - always thought he would make a fantastic head coach but unfortunately his reputation off the field will ensure that never happens.

Its hard to tell how the playing group as a whole would respond to Darce or Johno. With this waxing thing and all that, you would want to pick the player who held his head up and did the right things when all around everything was turning to shyte through 03 and 04... someone the players can look up to, and will respond to when asked by the captain to do something.
I lean towards darce slightly out of darce and johno, not based on anything I can put my finger on.

Thanks for that. Very interesting listening. McGuane's thoughts are interesting. He touched on a valid point with Bandy, we really need him fit as a tall with his height and athletic ability is a difficult matchup. He also can play as a decoy forward.
'Scuse for the ignorance, but what is McGuanes position at the moment?
We should have hired McGuane as coach maybe?...
& why doesn't that website have an archive?
