Saw it tonight and thought it was pretty good, I was just wondering what other people's opinions were about the movie?

Well if you did bother seeing it you would realise that it is nothing like the movies you think it is, and........Oh I'm not wasting my time.

Not a big fan either

At best it was an average film. As soon as they went into the first flashback I was worried, by the third flashback my suspicions were confirmed - they went with the non-linear plotline. It didn’t work, in fact it annoyed the crap out of me and subtracted a fair bit from the film.
The main character was a dull clichéd everyman and the storyline lacked an engaging conflict. It flashed backwards through a series of vaguely interesting action segments and less interesting character development bits, while in “present” time the plot headed towards an inevitable and predictable conclusion.
The film was deigned to cash in on the elevated status of US firemen after 911. Not that I am totally against that, they just did a pretty poor job of it.
Maybe wait for the DVD rental to see it, if it comes down to choosing between Ladder 49 and another film you know what to do.

The script was written before 9/11 and set in New York, but was changed and delayed after 9/11 because producers worried it would look like they were cashing in on it.

So it was inevitable and predictable that he was going to die even though in 99% of Hollywood movies the good guy lives?

Sheeet.
I got free tickets to see it and demanded my money back
Personally I feel John Travolta's responsible for this movies dribble. Seems everything he stars in turns to sheeeet.
Battlefield Earth :p
Broken Arrow :D
Phenominononandon.
What was that movie he was in with Hugh Jackman? God that stank of sheet.
More Vincent Vega, less wannabe tuff guy

When I realized the plot had a non linear timeline there was no longer any doubt the main character would die. The timeline was based on that old wives tale that you see your whole life flash before your eyes when you die.

You assumed you knew what type of movie I think it is. You don't. I've been around long enough to know this is pap that I don't like. And incidently been told it's crap from a lot of people.

No I'm not actually, are you........like
After watching the trailer it reminded me of the movie Backdraft... I think it nearly even includes a very similar line in the movie... Just wondering if those that have seen both movies came to the same conclusion???
