View Full Version : Australia A

Since Australia and Australia A are without the best 2 sides in the world, when are we going to see them go head to head. I mean the tantalising prospect of Bevan, Elliot, the Hussey brothers, Tate, Hodge, Haddin, Blewett, Lewis, etc... going head to head against the current test team. It would without doubt be the best game played here in years, and no doubt it'd probably be a sellout.
Thoughts?

Would love to see it but it will never happen.

I loved it when these two teams played, but I don't think we'll see it again. Besides, its a bit unfair when the Aussie side is barracked against by their home crowd.

What a match. And no doubt Australia A would not only give Australia a run for their money but could beat most Test playing nations first side.
Doubt Australia v Australia A will ever happen again, which a shame. Doubt those guys want their egos dented.
What about an All-Star game of sorts? An annual one-dayer, say West (SA/WA/VIC) v East (NSW/QLD/TAS), with all international players featured. Can't be assed coming up with the line-ups, but it would be quality cricket.
Or alternatively, maybe Gilchrist and Ponting captain respective teams and pick their teams schoolyard style.

Maybe they could mix and match the two and have a couple of "Best of Australia" 1 dayers.

Ugh! lumped in the same team as SA and WA.

Yeah, WA and SA would be at a huge disadvantage - theres no VICs that can play ODI cricket. ;)

How is Victoria a Western State?
How is Victoria a Western State?
Well, it is less East than Tassie. That is how I justified it. Mainly because if you went with North and South... Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland would clearly own the other 3.

We should play a super series of our own, Super Test and 5 one dayers. Gives each state a chance to see it. Thought 3 tests might be overkill for players. Be good though if a team cancelled for some reason. Also the more one dayers mean you dont have to disrupt the domestic calender to much
Vic, QLD, SA
Hayden
Elliott

^^^^ Would be the test side with the others players in the squad for one dayers
Surprised eddiesmith hasn't suggested it is really NSW v the rest....CA will not put it on because of the negative reaction to the senior Australia side when they did do it....

i'm suprised cricket australia hasn't ordered all members of the test team not from NSW to move there or sacrifice their spot in the team ;)

I noticed India overnight (our time) played a mixed match between India A and India B where they mixed the teams with potential players and current players. Not all top players played, possibly due to injury or what not, but it is a good idea. Thats what Aus should do possibly once a year. CA should simply put a gap in the schedule, reduce the crap matches and let Aus A and Aus B play instead.

It was obviously used as a selection showdown for the upcoming series something maybe Aus doesnt have to worry about but still it would get a bigger crowd in Melbourne than a one sided game between Aus and some crappy International team.
The main problem may be that the smaller grounds in Aus (every city except Melbourne) still sell out so CA think everyone is happy and only us in Melbourne are standing up and telling them we are bored
