View Full Version : Who Will Go And See Werribee In The Finals?
Since the Doggies are well and truly out of it this year who will be going along to support our boys in the VFL finals?
Larry6
I hope to get along. Where are they being played?
Does anyone know what the eligibility criteria is for playing for Werribee? How many games in the AFL makes you ineligible? From memory, it used to be 12 senior games made you ineligible but that was quite a few years ago now and I seem to recall they changed it.
If any of Guido, Murphy or Hahn would be eligible only if they didn't play against Melb next week, I'd be for leaving them out and letting them get the finals experience.
For those who have not yet found out, Werribee will play the Murray Kangaroos at Werribee, 2pm Saturday.

K9-54,
I don't think many people are quite sure of what the eligibility criteria actually is (including the VFL and AFL). According to a thread i read on the North Melbourne board a few weeks back, I think a player mustn't have played any more than 8 senior games this year (can ya confirm Darky?). So that leaves:
Jose Romero
Brad Fuller
Mark Alvey
Adam Contessa
Steven Kretiuk
Shane Birss
Daniel Cross
Ryan Hargreave
Jordan McMahon
Paul Dooley
Patrick Bowden
Wayde Skipper
... With Wiggins and Bruton still out for a year. Under that rule, Hahn (11), Murphy (15), Gilbee (9) Giansiracusa (10) and Penny (20) are all ineligible, irrespective of whether they play against Melbourne in the seniors this week. Gilbee, Hahn and Gia are the unluckiest.
I've also heard from a few people that it the criteria might simply be to have played a minimum of five VFL games for the year. I don't have any VFL stats handy, so I don't know about Murphy under that ruling (was he injured for most of the 6 games that he's missed?), but Gia, Gilbee and Hahn will definitely get a run under that criteria :) - and possibly Dimma, Curley, Cox (4 or 5 games each i think?) and Bartlett (apparently BOG on the weekend LOL).
I've gotta see whether I'm working, but I'll try get there - only finals action I'll get to see for the year. :(

On the WB site it says the following players are eligible:
"The likes of Patrick Bowden, Jordan McMahon, Daniel Giansiracusa, Mark Alvey, Adam Contessa, Lindsay Gilbee, Robert Murphy and Mitchell Hahn"
But there could be more...

I will be watching Werribee, as long as they make the grand final. I will be going to the grand final, regardless of who is playing.

I'm pretty sure it's based on a minimum number of VFL games, and if our reserves coach Paul Hamilton says it's 5 (as told to fellow poster Hilton), then that's good enough for me.
Maybe the "there could be more..." comes from this week's players ALL being eligible because the senior sides are still in action. Whether this counts in future weeks as part of the minimum 5 games, I am unsure (it would probably be 5 H&A games).

Can't you post a pic of yourself for all of us to see, TD?
My brother-in-law brought over his digital camera yesterday but with my father coming home from the nursing home I just couldn't be bothered getting all dressed up in Bulldog gear for a photo. Maybe Grand Final week..... just to give y'all something to look forward to that week since we have nothing else to look forward to!
Just remembered..... I'll be in Las Vegas GF week so will have to post early. I'll be doing my very best to win one of the Super Jackpots on the pokies and then donate the money to the club..... but only if they rename the club the Western(Chicago suburbs) Bulldogs! :D Has a nice ring to it, don't you agree?????
