Footscray v Port Adelaide
The Source Of All Our Misery
Saturday night.

Final scores:
Port Adelaide: Heaps
Footscray: Bugger All

The saddest thing at the Lost Dogs Home are those pups that roll on their back and wee themselves with their poor abused tails wagging furiously between their legs.
That, and Footscray’s performance on Saturday night, is the sort of thing that brings a lump to my throat.
By quarter time Footscray had given up. Terry Wallace and the boys were playing cards in the coach’s box and those Footscray supporters that hadn’t brought a good book to read were wishing they’d stayed home to watch the City Of Lost Children on SBS.
Best on ground for mine was the twenty metre patch of turf at the Remand Centre end that looked like the carpet at the San Remo Ballroom.
Port are alright, but this isn’t the sort of opposition they’re going to encounter when the second half of the competition starts Friday week.
They’re certainly in form, but when Sources Close To The Melbourne Football Club emerged from his bedroom after a three day drinking binge to announce that Port would play the Fitzroy Bears in the Grand Final I suggested he go back to drinking.
I guess the lowest point was that all this occurred in Melbourne on a Saturday night.
There’s heaps to do on a Saturday night in Melbourne. The Drones were playing at the Tote. Cheap beer at the Town Hall in North Melbourne. Random breath testing on the South Eastern Freeway. Heaps of grouse things.
Anything would have beat being trapped at the Source Of All Or Misery watching the pride of the SANFL get a leg up.
Someone should have called the RSPCA.
Maybe Footscray should move to Arden Street - and get closer to the Lost Dogs Home.
