View Full Version : What sort of spoiler information is acceptable?

This question has been raised on another thread. When it comes to shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race, would you prefer to hear no information on the participants whatsoever aside from what they show on Australian TV each week? Is it okay to find out info about participants as long as the information gives away nothing about results we haven't seen yet?

I will leave it up to the posters to discuss and decide.

Bearing in mind that when we finalise our rules, suspensions may apply to anyone who breaches them.

I will keep this thread open for a week before making any decision.

Cheers

I think it's fine to hear anything about the participants to date ...so long as it's nothing in their future

Nothing that reveals anything within the context of the episodes which are yet to be shown. I think it's fairly common sense really.

People should know where the fine line is drawn from revealing things such as who is in the next series of a show, to spilling the beans on the context of episodes.

AFAIK say what you like as long as it has nothing to do with the outcome of the show (ie doesn't come from watching or reading about an episode shown in the US but not here). And that means no hinting like in the last TAR series after episode 1 there was a post something like this:

(I think) Linda and Karen won't last longDon't be so sure

I think it's been said..

P.S, Russian, did I post that 'hint'?

See that link Russian has posted is exactly what I don't like. I would consider that as a spoiler as well, BAN THEM!!

yes i think they should be banned
i knew a couplle of weeks ago about jon hitting victoria & the repercussions of that but figured if i posted it would colour poeples view of the couple if they knew what was going to happen, but even now there stuff on the TAR thread about fututre events i think anything happening in the future even if it is circumstantial to the actual event ie jon & victoria even though it isn;t an acutal who gets eliminated next week type spoil it still should be banned as prior knowledge of related events does spoil things.

Okay, Just say the first episode of a Survivor Series has just screened over here in Aus, I might wanna know who gets eliminated next week or the week after, But there's no way I want to know who wins.

If there's about 1 or 2 weeks before we find out the final result, If its a show I dont really care about, Tell me now, If its a show im really into, I'll really want to know but I'll try my best to refrain myself from asking anyone the final result.

Sometimes I say to a friend or something "If I ask, Dont tell me" and then they wont tell me so I'll get all ********ed off at them :p

If someone claims on a thread they know any results which haven't been screened here, PM them if you want to know them, and hopefully they'll have the common sense to PM you back with the results.

As long as the experience isn't ruined for those who don't want it to be so, all is good.

I'd say if you don't want information about the shows then you'd be best off not looking at this sub-forum too often anyway.

I'm not too fussed but I reckon the poster should at least warn of a spoiler in the midst.

Having said that, if it's popular, it should be kept out. Most of us know where to find it.

But I reckon just having people say it's a spoiler is good enough. Not say anything in the title for example. You have to open it to see results. Ban or discredit those who get to say whatever in the title. Just say if it is a spoiler or not.

What about the issue of different time zones within Australia?

E.G. Would it be a spoiler to discuss the winners of TAR when the episode won't be seen in WA for a couple of hours or should people outside the Eastern States just have the sense not to look here?

It's a bit like F1 results. You should avoid areas where you know results might be posted.

If WA people don't want to know the result, then they should avoid the Reality section of BF that evening [is it tonight ?]
