Channel 9 are reporting tonight that the Crows are looking to re-introduce the Neil Craig inspired lycra guernseys that Norwood used in the late 90's.
Looks like the transformation to fully fledged netball team is almost complete! :D

Excellent, maybe the move to Norwood Oval is going to go ahead at last.
Bob Hammond on the AFL commission, Nigel Smart future member for Norwood and probably minister of Sport and Recreation, Craigy as coach. The pieces are in position...

Oi!
Bob Hammond may have coached a couple of flags out at the Parade but he'll always be a Rooster! ;)

I remember watching norwood run around in those tight lycra tops.
They did look shocking but if they can stop you being tackled then go for it. It certainly made it impossible to just grab the jumper but it seemed to me the opposition just concentrated more on their tackling so no great effect.
IIRC there was also a number of norwood players who didnt like then because the felt that they made it harder to get there breathe back due to the tightness accross the chest. I dont think this was proven but mentally the players thought it.
Personally keep the tops as they are.

Paul Northeast seemed to make it his personal mission to destroy as many of those guernseys as he could.
Didn't they have zip up fronts as well? That would be so cool, they could wear some gold chains, grow some serious sideburns, bit of chest hair and then straight down to the shed after the game for a bit of disco fever ...

Nah face it, Bob turned once he established his Half Case empire. Just like any semblance of Torrens has been forever bleached from Rocky Roberts. The only thing Rocky never understood was ... they never really accepted him. Henley High? Come on, get serious ...

Shrug, I'm dubious about the value of the lycra jumpers although I'm sure they'll be a better standard than the Norwood ones. I agree with missionpossible that the benefit is probably zero or marginal.
But I guess we'll have to put up with a bit of stick for trying something new.

I think I follow this line of thinking and arrowmans as well. Dont like them but lets give them a go
Adelaide Crows always thinking ;)
And Paul Northeast now theres a man who should be in jail about now. Could he finish fighting off the field?

Actually it's Collingwood who are trying out the new lycra jumpers & like any good coach Craigy is willing to learn from other sources. ;)

Yep, Collingwood, we are keeping our eye on it.
Apparently this is a new type of lycra. It disburses persperation to the outside, making them slippery. Sounds a bit funny, but that apparently what the attraction is.
God they do look crap though.

I'm not sure a look Norwood tried in 1995 qualifies as something new ...

yeh right - i only saw the little snippet on the news preview which made it sounds as though it was a crows initiative. At first glimpse i thought they had little or chance at getting it past the AFL but seeing as though eddie is behind it im sure it will get rubber stamped before the proposal is even written...

I'm not sure a look Norwood tried in 1995 qualifies as something new ...I'm not sure equating something developed by adidas in 2005 with the 1995 version just because it looks the same qualifies as a very smart opinion ;)
Seriously, I hope they don't pass the test because the look is not good. But if they do pass the test - get used to it, because your boys will be wearin' 'em eventually.

maybe your boys should swap places with the "cheer girls". No-one would notice the difference. :p

Pretty sure than within a few years every club will be wearing these types of guernseys. SOund as though wearing them will make it much harder for the opposition to tackle.

Its a shame they're not thinking about how dodgy it is not being able to tackle each other because of strained sweat.
If it proves effective, the AFL need to get in there and stamp these guernseys out. Ugh.

Back in the ol' US, a traditional 4th of July barbecue activity is competing to tackle a greased pig. Just taking it up a notch, I reckon. Ugh indeed.

Ah the benefit of hindsight... when I commented the comparison was still with Norwood circa 1995 ;)
Anyway if we wear them, they'll be designed by Nike, called something astronomical and charged the same!

Persperation is disbursed to the outside of the jumper. I can just see a player cleaning his hand on the wet jumper then going for the ball only for it to slip through his wet hands.
by the way nothing to do with the topic but on the way home tonight I went past banner and they had a sign up saying TOOL SALE and just couldn't help but wonder how much they would charge for UNIT

I remember when Norwood had them, and Port just tackled them twice as hard.
Anyone else remember Macca in one :p
And yes they did have a zip down the front.
They never seemed to last long, and seem to rip real easy. Some say this is the real reason Norwood went broke.

well that would be one way to stop greeks from playing the game. Either that or the hairdressers will make a fortune from dying the hair on their backs.

I think you should of thought about your own jumper first, thats one thing your club could never get right, actually you have now got quite a few alternative netball jumpers over the years.
So Crows wear a alternative jumper just once for a practice match, I think I can handle that, luckily its not premanent like yours.

Its all very good for the likes of Collingwood and Adelaide to think of wearing guernseys to help them not get tackled but first they must get the football, it appears that they have got their priorities wrong.

Painted on guernseysWell let's take it further. Simply tattoo our guernseys on our favourites. Makes it much harder for them to go interstate later. :D
