Ponting is NOT underrated

Do people really understand how good Punter is?

Everyone rates him as the bracket of Tendulkar and Lara, so if you're saying he's underrated, then he must be rated in the bracket of the Don? ;)

Yes. Everyone does - thus why he is captaining the best Cricket Team in the world.

go back and have a look at the world cup final.

The best innings was D Martyn (and not a fan of him).

Hayden and Gilchrist got the flyer, but then, they are given their head and allowed licence to hit, so there is a degree of pressure, plus the huge pressure of WC.

Two wickets fall, and time for consolidation and protecting their wicket.

Martyn goes at a strike rate over 1 per ball from the get go (Hollywood scriptwriting ;) ) and Ponting takes his time to find his feet.

Ponting ends up monopolising the strike and it is preobably the best ball striking (enter golf vernacular) I have seen.

However Martyn laid the foundationi. The most pressure. Hands down best innings. Though from the scoredcard

Stop killing our bandwidth mate...

That photo's from that hundred he scored against South Africa when he hit a six to finish off the game - IIRC.

Turn it up mate. I'm about the biggest Martyn fan going around and even i can tell you Punter batted a helluva lot better than Marto in that game. It's easy to knock around 1's and 2's likle Marto when the field was spread, but Punter just said "stuff it i'm going to smash the crap outta these Indians regardless" and he went berserk.

Ponting = underrated.
huh? we all know his last year has been a letdown compared to his sensational 2003 season, but noone has called for his head or anything, and we all understand what a gun he has been ever since he was a teenager. noone has underrated him, and i'm sure that this innings will help people rate him even more.
