View Full Version : Ayres didnt tell his players
That they had a chance for a home final?
SURELY you would think that Ayres would tell his players that if they win they get a home final...surely they would of got up had they of known that.
I cant believe that Ayres would be so....stupid!
As for the loss to Freo :D Well that was just shocking...completly outplayed. Im still waiting to hear the excuse "we didnt play as hard as we could cos we didnt want to get any injuries...its all part of hte plan"
They will bounce back tho...i think a fairly easy win against Carltons reserves next week is on the cards
Well Macca it looks like the crows proved you wrong again..
last week you said they wouldn't play worse for the rest of the year. Well IN YOUR FACE. muhahahahah
ahem.
Actually Ayresy probably didn't say anything because they knew Carlton has all its players half dead, and he wanted to play them next week. Seems to have worked out. :)
Garth
I must admit when I heard Trigg say that Ayres had not said anything I was nonplussed.
But who knows how these coaches tick:confused: Maybe he thinks knockin off Carlton then Richmond is a reasonable path forward..

Carlton will only be missing Ratten and Franchina so its hardly their reserves side
Crows performance was abysmall. No-one put their hand up after half time
The Captain was non-existent.
Stevens Stenglien Gallagher and Clarke must all come back in.
Doughty Byrne McGregor and possibly an injured Basset can come out.
We may need to bring in Crowell too. Not sure who else will get dropped, though Vardy's season has been ordinary.

Hmmm ... a gloating Port supporter. I'm looking forward to having a chat with you lot on Sunday after we belt Carlton and Brisbane stitches you up and we're suddenly on an even par.
Scary isn't it? Port couldn't have played better this year, we've been inconsistent and yet in six days time, we'll be in exactly in the same place - one loss from elimination.
You see, Ayresy knew our players wanted to play away from home so if he told them we were playing for a home final they would try to lose ;) In the end we lost anyway so it doesn't really matter :)

Im sure the Crow hierarchy played Doughty and McGregor a test run to see whether or not to trade them based on
1. They were fully fit
2. "If they dont play well against Freo, why keep 'em?"
Short answer in my opinion is... they will be traded:eek:
As for ins this week I agree with the above.
Id love to see Jarman dropped too but they wont coz of his "finals freakishness"
Topjars,
We can't drop Jarman. I know his form has been poor but he's a matchwinner, a proven finals performer, he loves the 'G' and the big stage will bring the best out of him. Jars takes a good defender from the opposition and this week the Blues will need to play either Silvagni or maybe McKay on him, taking these class players away from other positions on the field where they could be more damaging.
This could be Jars' last season and he'll lift on Saturday, a big performance from him is just around the corner. Jaarrrrmaaaaannnn!!!!!!!! Gooooaaaaaallllllll!!!!! :)
He hasnt been that bad
Rd 19 - 3 goals
Rd 20 - 2 Goals
Rd 21 - 0 Goals
Rd 22 - 1 Goal
Anyway who would we play instead of him??
Richo
1.5 goals per game is not bad??
Remember he pushed SOS in the back to get at least one of them round 19 goals...He wont be that lucky next time.
As to who do we play in his place...F;;CKEN good question.
Crowell? good kick, quick lead, good grab?
Dunno

Apparantley Ayres himself didn't even know about the chances of a home final. Someone at the club didn't do their homework.
I honestly the beleive the result would be different had they had this knowledge.

Apparently the club told him the Saints had won but didn't tell him the position that put us in.
I agree with Blues_Brat...had we known, we probably would have won!
