Stevens, Camporeale, Scotland, Koutoufides, Walker and French of course. Johnson, Bannister, Wiggins, Simpson, Davies, Lappin, Houlihan, Sporn, Bentick, Carrazzo, McGrath, Chambers rotating in and out. De Luca and Prendergast relieving French in the ruck.

Chambers may even be in the starting midfield at the expense of Walker at this stage.

What's the deal with Johnson ? Don't recall seeing him play last night...

He's one sided, short and slow. As our midfield improves I can't find much of a spot for him in our line-up. He can win clearances however.

So then he's not injured and was left out purely because his form didn't warrant selection ? Strange for a bloke who played every game last year.

He played every game last year except for round 22 when he was dropped. There were feelings for awhile that whilst he could get the ball, he's too slow, has ordinary skills (especially by foot and even moreso when kicking for goal) and as others have improved, he won't make our best 22.

His disposal doesn't warrant dropping him out of the team.

His pace is ok, his clearances are excellent.

Definitely has to be played on the ball, but he is pretty good infront of goal.

He's there abouts - certainly too good for VFL - had 40 something possies last game.

His to good for the VFL, but not good enough for the big stuff.

I don't think he should be in our starting 22.

 This is where I would say one of his biggest problems lie. Countless times last year he missed easy shots when running straight in 30-40 metres out.

Against teams where there will be a midfield slog i'd say he should be played.

I'm guessing he wasn't added against the eagles because we needed fleet footed onballers on the park to match it with their midfield.

I also think it's starting to come down to depth.

There's only 22 spots and we are now at the point where some handy players just wont be getting a regular game.

Players that we would think would be on the verge of pushing for a spot through the season

Bowyer
Bentick
Betts
Johnson
Longmuir
Russell
Blackwell

From what I've seen, Johnsons spot has been sewn up by Chambers - a better rotating midfielder who can kick goals.
I don't really rate Johnson. Played a couple of good games last year but didn't have the consistency or the finish.

The other interesting ommission from the Wiz Cup was Norman. Will he come in for Thornton ? Or will Bowyer or Longmuir fill that void ?

If he is right, definitely. At the moment we appear to be coping ok without him in the midfield. I also like Digby down forward as our third tall. Played very well against the doggies and the eagles in this role. Kouta needs to find some touch and if his body is right a move to CHB would be perfect.
