Not sure how long Thornton is out for but it appears at least 6 weeks. Just wondering about a replacement CHB.

My initial suggestions would be O'Halphin, Waite or perhaps even Bryan. Havent seen much of him but he looks to have reasoneable mobility for his size and kicks the ball long and fluently.

Has anyone seen the 2's practice games and if so how have these 3 been travelling?

I'd think Digby will be sent back to CHB for the first game against his old club.

Karl Norman might get his best opportunity to cement a position in the 22 now with Thornton gone, though i'd prefer Karl as our 3rd tall option in the long run.

Depending on his Fitness maybe even Kouta will get a run there, he's done the job there before.

Other options depending on the oposition CHF

Teague
Prendergast
Whitnall

yeah i agree Digby has played back there last season with some success so i would give him first crack at it ...in fact he has put himself forward as Thorntons replacement

Karl Norman
Digby Morrell
Jarrad Waite

are my initial thoughts.
If Karl has got his head on straight he will take this opportunity and grasp it with both hands. He's got the talent, not sure if he wants it bad enough though. Tall, athletic, can take a mark. The timing is perfect for Norman to show the club he is worth it.

Waite at 191cm is another option. I think he's a little wasted on a wing on half forward flank.
Morrell is okay though he'll struggle to fill Thornton's shoes.

I'll like Morrell up forward. I rate Norman, and he can do a good job when on his game. The other options are Waite and Kouta. Waite can play in a number of roles, but I think Kouta will be a good option if he can regain some form.

Thought after putting up the post about Digby. Probably has the potential but not sure if I am sold on him enough to date. Also think he is a bit light on in the muscle aspect.

Would love Norman to step up into the role but still think he is short on the self belief aspect. Kouta I think would be reluctant to play there which is sad given he is captain. Feel he would be best suited and most favourable to midfield alternating with short forward stints.

My first choice is Waite as I think it would give him a good opportunity to get some regular ground time. He also has the agression and appears suited to the straight ahead style as against having to front the ball and turn.

Still keen to hear from anyone who has seen O'halphin and Bryan in the 2's.

Waite needs to play in the forward line. It is no surprise that in the 2 games Waite played, Whitnall was BOG.

....It's the Hamill affect people. Waite does all the chasing, tackling and bumping that gives Whitnall extra space to work in. IMO Waite is our best option as a defensive forward and in tandem with Davies, our forward line is probably the most efficient in the league.

For now, lets just use Morrell and Norman to fill in for T-bird.

i would really like to see Norman there as i wanna know where he's at with his footy or if not Morrell and Kouta are pretty even in terms of preference, Dont think waite would be anygood at CHB, think hes better when hes running .
remember the rd 7 collingwood game when kouta played CHB on Rocca didnt do too bad. And The Essendon match when Norman was on Lucas.

T-Bird going down is a huge loss. if Norman wants his chance he needs to pull his finger outa his arse and start showing some real application. No use moping around the place feeling sorry for himself because he was dropped for the grand final. His form was ********e. Digby on radio last night said he he did play well for Preston on the weekend so lets hope he can bounce back and show us what he has got.

I'd go with Digby. You can replace him in the forward line with Deluca, which leaves French as our first ruck and Prenda as his back up.

Deluca got killed everytime he rucked on Sat night, so lets leave him as our third forward.

Any news as to how long he will be out for yet?Medical results due today.

Luckily we have a few options to replace him (although none as good as the T-Bird himself).
Diggers, Wait, Norman, Prenda or maybe Kouta could fill the void. i'm sure Denis will make the right choice!

Deluca is a joke. Has talent, but has a huge problem with his weight. At his age (23 I think?) he should be well pass the 100kg for a ruckman. Either he puts on some weight or he goes back to netball!

This is pretty good news. Last night they were fearing surgery and 12-14wks. Kmowing T-Bird and his dedication he will be back in 6 not 8 wks.
