Glenelg v Port April 9 - A question ?
Hi Sth Aussies,
just wondering is there a good pub close to the ground where we (a group of about 20) can get a good cheapinsg $10-$15 pub lunch & down some coopers ?
Its at Alberton & we are really keen to experience the Port culture.
Cheers,
Free Willy. :)

Do you need to be a member, or does GA get you anywhere around the ground ?

You can just walk into the clubrooms and get a meal anytime. Everyone is welcome. General Admission gets you anywhere bar the grandstands. If you want a reserved seat in the grand stand you can usually purchase them from the staff inside the main entrance to the Port Club (near the shop) when you get there. Only cost a couple of bucks each IIRC.Worth it if it starts raining tho.

The Alberton Hotel is about 500 metres from the Oval in a North-Western direction on Port Road. They have great counter meals and plenty of Pale on tap. All TAB facilities and your normal front bar fun. Go there and say hello to the locals before the bounce at 2.20pm. The Brien family have owned the Alberton for years and would only be too happy to meet some new faces.
You can always have tea at the Port Club after the thumping of the Tigers.

Ok you, step out the back and we'll sort this out..... :D
Gotta say that I get more involved at SANFL games than AFL ones. Not sure if it's just because there's actually opposition supporters there to give the shytes to and vice versa, or because of my life long passion for the maggies.

That describes a fair element of the North supporter base too ... that's a pretty big lump you're sweeping under the rug there ;) ... it's not all the nice side of Prospect Rd and Walkerville/Medindie/North Adelaide.

Actually he was more a tough wingman and the tail end of his career at Port coincided with the beginning of Dave's. Long blonde hair, bearded, electrifying pace and great skills. Russell Ebert once described him as the most skilful player he'd seen. Didn't mind the tough stuff, but was reported only once in a 200 game career (1977 GF). Legend has it he sorted out Phil Carman in a car park after a heated game against Norwood.
And Mark Riccuito's uncle I believe.

What I'm trying to figure out is why Wedgie is describing himself?
He's a North man - yet the description for a Port supporter fits him.... ;)

Try wandering around the outer at Alberton with peroxided blond hair and see how long you last! Especially wear Red and White!
How many Port fans have hair-dos like that?

I'm off me guts aren't I. They probably are RWO shirts...which means my New Rooster Order crack was entirely wasted.
I'm sure Wedgie will let me know soon enough.
