In his last three test matches gilchrist has scored 3 hundreds. The one at the SCG I'm fairly sure was off less than 100 balls, the one in the first test match must have been fairly close and was off 86 i think. If they are all off less than 100 balls, is that a new record?
Probably is, or has come pretty damn close to breaking.
Phenomonal record that.

He sure is one of the greatest the world has seen. But is it a record he is broken? I'm interested now.
And to think all those people who booed him when he took over from healy...

Well, you were probably one of them too.. Healy had served our country for numerous years and his attitude on and off the field was unspoken for.. He wanted his swansong to be at the Gabba and the public believed he was entitled to that.. the selectors saw otherwise.. which is their choice and why I wouldn't want to be a selector.
It wasn't just a case of 'boo' for Gilchrist, there was more behind it.

Right on, R-Man. I will confess to being one of those who was giving Gilly hell- quite a few of us in Queensland were....one of our members even caught a bit of flack for commenting during a match "Heals wouldn't have missed that- as I recall, Gilly heard it and complained about it...it was an older member, whose voice tended to be heard easily.....
Yes, great resentment that Heals did not go out with a Test at the Gabba, and it was merely a case of leaving him for one game back in Oz. Yes, you are right it is the selectors' job- and I am one of Gilly's hugest backers now, but when he took over, I was not....
As I noted in the Test thread, y'all are lucky to have one of the greatest players of all time playing for Australia at this time- add in Pigeon and Warnie, and you understand WHY Punter's boys are kicking butt all over the world and will do the same in England this year.....in a way, I feel sorry for the Poms- with the talents of Jaques, Tait, Thornley and the other youngsters developing in Shield cricket, when WILL they win the Ashes back?

well very few players have scored 100's in three consecutive test matches. So too score three run-a-ball hundreds in consecutive test matches - i'd say yes, that is a record.

yep; http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/STATS/TESTS/BATTING/MOST_CONSEC_100S.html
Everton Weekes of the Windies holds the record at 5 hundreds from 5 innings. Rahul Dravid, John Fingleton and Alan Melville all have recored 4, while about 20-25 players have 3 consecutive tons.
In terms of consecutive test matches http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/STATS/TESTS/BATTING/MOST_CONSEC_MATCHES_100S.html The Don holds the record at 6 consecutive tests scoring hundreds, while Jacques Kallis went 5 consecutive tests scoring tons a couple of years back.

I think David Boon was the last man to score 3 centuries in 3 tests for Australia.
Can't remember what year, but the 9 commentators were over-using the term "Rock of Gibraltar"

Hayden is the last, back in 2001/02, who had a period which included 4 centuries in 4 consecutive tests, and across 8 tests, scored 5 centuries and two nineties:
136 & 13
91
0 & 57
31 & 131
138 & 3*
105 & 21*
122
63 & 96
And GB, you should make note that Fremantle's only final was a home final, which they still lost to an 8th placed team.
everthing adam gilchrist does is a record, what a gun!!
