You actually don't know how apt the user name badhairday would be for young Chubs. Turns out the young fella got stung $97 for a haircut a couple of weekends back. It has provided much laughter around town of late.
But I don't think it is young Stuart. You may recall he used to be prone to let the subject drift away from footy on occasions, so I doubt he would be the new fella that appears to have upset a few of the regulars.

Some Footy news............., any hopes (if there were any) of Damien Yze coming back to shepp seem to be gone, reported that he is playin at East Burwood this year.
Not a reliable source however.

badhairday, this is your first post on this thread........this thread was started by Rowey ages ago, and since then alot of us have worked out, know each other or have told each other who we are, this is why there is a bit of Banter here and there.
You my friend are a peasent, I can't see the title moderator underneath your name. You are clearly someone who has nothing better to do, than slag off Big Footys no.1 thread!
If you would like to start up your own thread where everyone talks just about football and nothing else, you are most welcomed too. Considering most teams have no even started training again, there is not a hell of alot to talk about. But, if you would like to start up a topic in the GVFL you are most welcomed too, so whats it ganna be BadHairday, what topic would you like to discuss?
Or would you rather fufill your fantasys and give into your obvious homosexual urge and indulge in some crazy gay chatroom antics????
Well said Echucaboy!

Ha ha was waiting for the question to be raised as I read down today's posts!!!
I doubt it very much it appears Stu has wiped his hands of us here at Big Footy (or has he) . . . . personally I enjoyed reading FBP's banter and the controversial interest it generated at times.
Come back FBP

well said echucaboy. I enjoy your posts.
As for Badhairdays assumption (thats all it is) that alot of people in the world of footy dont read the GVFL topic........... well i know of a few prominant AFL scouts that often read on without any comment in here, also a heap of boys from outside the GV read the thread.
I think some people may underestimate just how large this thread has become, and on alot of occusions the info we get here from people are fart more advanced than any paper or club announcement.
Keep up the good work boys, and great great posting echucaboy.

Echuca Boy, Not good news I am hearing out of Echuca. Can you put any light on the news that Young Rhys Archard is not playing at Echuca this year??? Have heard he may be heading interstate to play?? Big news with Archard. Good luck to him, he needs to take the next step with his footy.
News is spot on with Newman, he was not offered a spot on their list, he was offered an opportunity to try out for a rookie list spot, no guarantees (which is the norm). He decided against it, he was settled in Kyabram, just about to start a new job and had purchased a house. Good news for the bombers though.

Obviously Archard's a gun - but how much will him leaving hurt them? Surely they're now a considerable gap behind Rochy..Do they have any good kids coming through or potential gun recruits?
Who's likely to be the cellar dwellers this year in the GV?
shannon emmet former bushrangers n vic country on baller is tipped to be playing at congupna this year, moving back from wangaratta after a year with the rovers up there. Big recruit for them. Also Brent Smith is Nathalia's new coach which means that Jezza OBrien would be most likely to stay at shepp bears

I did ask the question a couple of weeks back Travvy, but after having a beer with Echuca's coach on the weekend and sussing it out i can tell you that the 'DURIE IS IN' and will be a murray bomber in 2006.

I certainly hope so. I was in stitches when I read it. The author obviously knows the great man very well.
I know it's not footy related, but they might be able to write something on Stuey's struggles to regain form with the cricket bat.
I'm tipping there will be a suicide if he doesn't get at least one score at bendigo Country Week this week.

MIGHTY BLOW
By Richard Goodbody
January 18 2006
Shepparton News
Echuca whippet Rhys Archard has stunned the Murray Bombers by defecting to South Adelaide for the forthcoming season.
The 22-year-old, who is the Murray Bombers' reigning bestand-fairest winner, informed club coach Dylan Butler yesterday that his time at Victoria Park Oval was up.
"Unfortunately the rumours are true," Butler said last night.
"Rhys rang me (early yesterday morning) . . . and told me of his decision.
"As a mate I respect his decision and I know he's going to play at a higher standard of football, but it's a massive blow for us."
During the past five seasons, Archard has carved out one of the most decorated careers in Goulburn Valley Football League.
Two senior premierships, three Victorian Country jumpers, countless interleague guernseys, and a Morrison Medal makes for impressive reading.
But after playing his 100th senior game with the club last year, Archard believes the time is right to try his hand with the Panthers in the SANFL.
"Rhys has been a tremendous servant of the Echuca Football Club," Butler said.
"He's knocked back countless offers over the years to switch clubs and he's always remained loyal, but now he wants to have a crack at a higher standard.
"He's been born and bred in Echuca and he's lived here his whole life, so it will be good for him to have a change."
While Archard's departure will severely dent the Murray Bombers' premiership bid, Butler believes the club has enough talent internally that it will not have to look outside of its ranks to replace the star on-baller.
"Josh Maddox has come back to the club this year and he should be able to play Rhys' role," he said.
"Obviously it would have been great to have both of them, but it's not to be.
"That's footy I suppose."
Echuca begins its premiership campaign against Rochester on April 15.

Arch is a freak and you just know that he'll suceed, because everything else he has done is his career so far indicates that.
He survives on a diet of pies and cokes, get up at dawn to ride track work before big games, playing well in grand finals despite being heavily sick with the flu.
Arch just has that ability to do special things even when he is out of his depth. I'm rapt to see him finally have a crack. Something tells me he'll be back again, because he loves Echuca, but I have no doubt, like Danny Maher and Travis Tamburro he'll have quite a bit of success in a state league. Good on ya Arch.

TheFreakyPenguin would like to know if Rhys Archard is some kind of super hero ??
That's a good way of putting it FreakyPenguin. He's pretty close - more of a cult hero I suspect.

Shawy, or Shaw-ry as he like to call himself, has been a Lion for the past two seasons.
Spent the entire season at Kings Park in 2004 but informed the club he wouldn't be coming back in 2005 as he was heading to America to work.
Apparently that didn't work out and in about June last year he again stepped out for the Lions. Worked his way back up to the seniors through the Scooby Doos and was a part of the Lions memorable grand final win over Euroa.
A laconic footballer with extremely sticky fingers who can win you a game off his own boot when on song.

Laconic is spot on with Steve Shaw, has the attributes to dominate games but doesnt do it often enough.

Hello Jeff, good to see you've discovered BigFooty. Haven't stumbled across a Fat Back Pocket in your travels by any chance?

I think he's still finishing off a pre-season run that he started last week. 2km is a long way though.

Well there you have it - I heard it Wednesday night but didn't think it was my position to let it out on Big Footy. You're too kind to the Shepp News Grandale, let em do their own sourcing for stories.

I'm sure it's not all that easy for the News boys to keep tabs on so many clubs and leagues over such a wide area. I'm sure they appreciate all they help they can get and I don't mind helping out.
And besides, I don't see what the Lions would gain by keeping Jacko's injury hush hush. He's gone for the year so they may as well get the news out there.
PS: Wheeliebin, it's Grandale, by Grand Royale, not Grand Lodge.

Is it true that Archard kicks great balls, some say they go like fire!! He also has a bit of speed...he'll have a great need for it in SA.
How will South Adelaide go? Where will he play? On ball, forward?

Didnt mean it like that Grandy, just thought that it was up to a SFNC person to post it rather than a non Lion like myself.

Slow news day for GVFL board.......
Rochy held a triathalon in the blistering 42 degree heat yesterday, with no real surprises with Chris Mcarty winning the event and Heath Aitken running second.
Apparently the highlight of the day was the infamous John "Bluey" Wright rocking up just before starting time yelling "wait for me, wait for me" for all the boys to turn around and see bluey standing there wearing a swiming cap, goggles, flippers and a shirt that said "if you can read this, your a loser" on the back of it. Rumours are that this was a planned gag by Dirty.

Whether Dirty set that up or not it would have been hilarious, can't believe Bluey didnt have a green can in his hand though. Some bad news for Rochy with Brenton Gray committing to Stanhope after being announced Captain on the weekend. Rochy had a huge crack at him and would be disappointed to not get him back into the yellow and black for 06.
Alls not well out at Bomberland (the red and black variety that is), already a big exodus of players and looks like there is more to come in the near future. A group of players have met with Nathalia although I believe only one may be keen to head across to the purples. After looking like they only needed to add a player or two to make the finals this year it looks like the plane might be about to crash land again.
