Ky were hitting the track tonight with a meet the coaches and committee night, anyone know how the turn up was?

turn up was good hank, a lot of new faces around. was a good meet and greet night with the coaches outlining their plans for the year, they have been working very hard to get the ball rolling in the right direction and by the sounds of things it's all positive for the club. of course there were a few missing due to playing up in darwin and the boys from melb not being able to come back, but all in all a good night.

How is Shep United shaping for 2007? Have they started pre-season? Who will be their major signings and who are they chasing?

United have not got on the move as yet... they are still deciding on a new senior coach... they are taking there time which may be not a good thing for the new coach as he wont have much time to prepare for the pre-season... good luck to them

Is there a group of guys who play in the GVFL, but train together down in Melbourne? heard something about it, someone mentioned Arden St. Was wondering if that still goes on. Also if that didnt happen where do the Melbourne guys train during the week? Cheers.

Lookin to make your way to the GV cabbie? I heard a rumor a few weeks ago that you might be checkin out a few options up this way. You'll have to lay off those pub squashes though, I heard you indulged in a few on satdy night at your favorite night spot "One Bar".

atkins is back but he is up in darwin at the moment and the boys are workin on other potential recruits...its just great to see the local boys coming back and the amount of numbers that will be at the club next year. it will certainly be better than the 100plus turn over of reserves we had last year, it will provide for competition for spots in the seniors and a base to build on for next year and beyond.

Decision on whether he plays in Violet Town or Benalla next year was being made today.
Also heard around the traps that hamill will not be playing at Euroa next year

Have heard that he has agreed to go to Benalla next year. Big gain for the saints.

As for Adrian Hamill, he is supposed to be going to Perth to live next year, but at the moment it looks highly doubtful he go there. If he is in the state he will be playing for Euroa.

I won't make a decision for a while, i'd like to play with a few good mates like i did this year with Ash Round and Phil Carroll at United but i'm not going to sit on the bench for half to 3/4 of a game again.

as i mentioned before, some of these guys weren't able to attend due to being in darwin etc. the coaches i believe are also working on a couple more biggys as well. in all honesty i thought we were a little bit stiff last year with injuries and i believe if we had our full side on the park week in week out we probably would have played finals, but we all know that we were not the only side to lose key players through out the year. with that being said, the coaches are doing a good job getting the players back to the club, their aim is to change the culture of the club and get the locals to want to play for ky again, and so far its all positive. i think that ky have to be realistic about their chances next season and i think that a berth in the finals for the first time in about 10 years is certainly realistic.

Stott waves bye to Pies

November 22 2006
Shepparton News

The exodus of players from Memorial Oval continues with Euroa vice-captain Wes Stott quitting the Goulburn Valley Football League club.

Stott, who joined the Magpies from Camperdown in 2001, has been a key component in the Magpies' and the league's midfields.

"I'm looking for a new challenge," Stott, who played more than 100 games with Euroa, said of his decision.

However, a decision is yet to be made on where that new challenge lies, with rival club Benalla and Kyabram District Football League side Violet Town interested in the 29-year-old's services.

"I'm waiting on Benalla to appoint a coach before making a decision," Stott said.

"I'm still keen to play GVFL, but that may come down to whether my work allows me to."

Stott's friendship with Violet Town coach John Trotter may see him in a Lions jumper.

"I have a few other mates like Jack Smythe playing there," Stott said.

"And a few others from Euroa have indicated they'll be going to Violet Town."

Stott's departure is a further blow for the Magpies, who have already lost Daniel Sage, Ashley Thomson, Shannon Gibson, Nathan Gilliland and Rory Hilton.

Dohnt adds clout to Echuca's centre

By Christie Peucker
November 22 2006
Shepparton News

Echuca will boast one of the most formidable on-ball brigades in Goulburn Valley Football League next season with the club announcing the addition of Moama's Adrian Dohnt.

The handly midfielder has all but signed up for next year, and newly appointed coach Steven Orr believes it will make the Murray Bombers' centre a pretty attractive unit.

"He will certainly be a vital part of our midfield," Orr said.

"We've got pretty good onballers so it will be hard for other sides to matchup on us."

Joining the former Western Australian midfielder will be 18-yearold Troy Muir from Assumption College, Kilmore, and his older brother Grant, 22.

"It's ticking over nice and steady," Orr said.

"We've only lost the two Melbourne boys, Brett Howman and full-forward Stephen White."

Filling the void left by White will be the handy Sean Murphy who returns from overseas after kicking 60-odd goals two years ago.

The club is expected to appoint an assistant coach to Orr after Saturday's National AFL Draft.

Meanwhile, Moama has not reappointed this season's coach Paul Clarke.

"At this stage we are probably looking to employ a playing coach," club president Craig Beck said.

"We still have a couple to see before we make an appointment, but it should be within the next week."

So far there are no recruits just many outs, but you would think that a coach wouldnt be moving from interstate without already securing a few players to come with him. Mind you he is going to need more than just a few players

As an oppostion supporter watching you this year im sure you are good enough to be playing full games at GVFL level but from all reports you missed a fair bit of pre-season then went missing for a few weeks during the year? Is that right?

It would be good to get a run down on who is leaving all clubs. This is a list I have got of players either definately leaving or rumoured to be leaving:

BENALLA: McFarlene, McKenzie, Porter, A.Stevens.
EUROA: Stott, Sage, Hilton, A.Thomson, Gilliland, Marshall, Hamill, Bamford.
SWANS: Bullen, Osborne, Warburton.
BEARS: Wells, Harrop, Byers.
UNTIED: S.Hazelman, Dawes, Gillespie, M.Sidebottom, Ralph.
ROCHESTOR: Bowen.
MOOROOPNA: Singh, Tremellen.
MANSFIELD: Walker x 2, Reynoldson.
TATURA: Pollard, Downey, Willoughby, Wellington, Kirby.
ECHUCA: White.
KYABRAM: Adamson, Taylor.
SEYMOUR: Amad, Bailey, Jake Anderson, Douglas, Van Riet, Saad, Gordon, Pilling.

Dawes. I don't think so mate. He's staying.

Hayden Best from Swans to Tally fellas
add Michael Roberts tat and Jason Morgan Ky to the departures.
Also Pasquali was big show for Benalla job but is doing Uni on Thursdays next year and couldnt get it changed so couldnt take on the top job.

Yep its official, will be interesting as I believe a few at the club weren't real keen to forgive and forget.
Shepp news also confirms the Hickmont statement about taking on the Gippsland Power job.

With the apointment of Cooper this could spell the end of Ricky Symes given that Symes left Benalla for Corowa-Rutherglen because Cooper was coach a few years back I believe.

He left because he couldn't play full-forward. I don't think that will be a worry now
