Last weekend we had the unusual situation of two players bearing the same name play against each other in the Bulldogs-Melbourne match - of course, the two Nathan Browns. Can you name another Footscray player who shared his name with a league player of the same era? The Bulldog player was around in the early fifties, and his namesake was a prominent league player at the time.
Good Luck.

I can do better than that. I think I know the answer but I will hold back for 24 hours or so and mention the two Peter Welshs running around league footy in the mid-seventies. We had one-he was a fair player too-and Hawthorn and Richmond had the other. :)
Doug Reynolds and the Essendon Reynolds ??
Oh , same first name too, Ron Richards

Well done jboyar!! Ron Richards is correct! That's a good get. The Bulldog played only 12 senior games in 1951-2, whilst the Pie (brother of Lou) played 143 from 1947-56.
LY :( You should have blurted it out when you had the chance. But the Peter Welsh get was pretty good anyway!

I dont mind.
Incidentally I used to play pool with Doug Reynlods at the Barkly Hotel in Footscray. He was pretty good, although he liked a drink and was usually a bit worse the wear for it. Someone told me that he had played in the premiership side. He was a nice old bloke.

About 10 years ago, a bloke at work cottoned onto the fact that I was a Footscray supporter (it wasn't difficult). He said 'I know an old bloke that played in your premiership side. Do you wan't me to get you his autograph?' This was like asking 'would you mind terribly if I deposited 2 billion dollars into your savings account to do with what you wish.' Anyhoo, a couple of days later he presented me with a photograph of the Bulldogs premiership side, across which was written "Best wishes, Doug Reynolds." A most treasured possession! LY, do you know whether Doug is still around, or is he playing in the big pool hall in the sky?

Don't quote me on this but I seem to remember reading in the local paper a couple of years ago that he had died.
I wonder how many of the premiership side are still alive?
Dont think so, he was at the Footballers Garage sale a couple of months ago , alive and well in Yarraville .
do i get an extra point ??
