Can't be bothered typing up a whole review or anything of the movie. I had seen this movie before and loved it, so I watched it again last night..I'd give it a rating of 3.5 out of 5.
What are your thoughts?
Dime a dozen Hollywood thriller that wouldnt of been made in todays terrorism paranoid world.

Didn't think much of Arlington Road, a much inferior version of the many quality conspiracy thrillers that came out of Hollywood in the 1970s - with 'The Parallax View' being the best of them.

I can't decide if the ending is genius or devastating
Isn't Jeff Bridges best movie, but it isn't too bad. His performance is OK, but doesn't compare to "The Dude" in The Big Lebowski.

The director's next film after this was The Mothman Prophecies. Both were movies that I expected little from but turned out to be really good. I can't really remember too much about this one though, might need to rent it again.

If you want a really good, but entirely batty, Jeff Bridges conspiracy movie, try and track down Winter Kills.
Funded mostly through Mafia cash, this flick is a very black and very paranoid comedy that takes the Kennedy assassination to its most ridiculous ends.
With a supporting cast of John Huston, Anthony Perkins, Eli Wallach, Toshiro Mifune, Richard Boone, Ralph Meeker, Dorothy Malone, Sterling Hayden, Thomas Milian and even Elizabeth Taylor hamming it up outrageously, it is a hell of a lot of fun, if taken in the right spirit.
There is an excellent DVD available from the USA, but it may also be found gathering dust on the weekly shelf of the video section of your local store.

Arlington Rd is quite clever, Tim Robbins and Jim Carrey are two normally funny guys who play great bad guys....
Ironic: Tim Robbins would do quite well in an Andrew Bolt look-a-like contest...

Yes, Mothman Prophecies..I remember making sure I saw it on Showtime a few months ago, however I can't remember if it ended up being better than I thought? I guess I enjoyed it..:)
Looks as if the director is pretty good, who is he BTW?
STILL feel sick in the guts when i see the look on JEFF BRIDGES face when he realises he's been had !!!!

****ing excellent movie.
One of my favourites.
Very well written and unlike many other certain 'thrillers' around the place, not a constantly predictable piece of junk.
imo, it's one of the more underrated movies of recent times.
Bring on Arlington Road 2! ;)
And as for other quality movies where the bad guy wins, look no further than Secret Window. I was pretty stoked when Johnny sorted out that annoying BF and unfaithful wife. He wins!!!!!!!!!
Liked it the first time around, lost all the power after that.
The script won the Nichol Fellowship about 10 years ago. 25k award handed out to 5 unproduced scripts each year. Run by the same joint that hands out the Academy Awards.

Jeff Bridges is under appreciated as an actor - like a "good average footballer" this movie is not bad DVD fodder

Yeah I thought Arlington Rd and Mothman Prophecies were great, been waiting for another movie from him but don't think he's done anything since (he's Mark Pellington btw). IIRC he was doing a new one, but it was a comedy I think.
Arlington Road is excellent. It's one of my favourite movies.
Is that the one that starts with the kid running down the road with his hands blown off?, if so its that image which prmpted me to dob in the kids next door for making bombs and setting them off in the school.
Yes, that's the opening scene, Jozeph.
