Richmond escaped unscathed from last weeks match, while the Blues
are without Ratten and Porter. Franchina is back (too early?) and
Plunkett and Hulme are in form, so the Blues might not be so
worried.
Richardson and Ottens have worried the Blues in the past and if
the Tigers midfield can feed them opportunities half of the work
is done. The Tigers need to get hungry; last week they looked
half-hearted.
The Blues would be well served to put the pressure on from the
start, rather than playing any cat and mouse games early on to
feel out the team's strengths and weaknesses. A bit of hard,
spirit breaking attacking tactics might put the Tigers back in
the cage they seemed reluctant to come out of last week.
Kouta is on fire and if the Knights, Bowden and Campbell can be
shut out, the Blues will triumph.
My pick – Blues by 30.

Port Adelaide v. Hawthorn
Saturday, September 15, 2001
Football Park 7:15 PM (7:45 PM AEST)

Port are in dire need of tall players. Paxman is out so Port are
grateful that Wakelin recovered from last Saturday's concussion.
Hawks have been lucky also, with Dixon and Harford fit after
ankle injuries.
Port have the runners while the Hawks have the height. Which
will count the most for and against each team? Port proved to be
tactically superior against the Hawks the last time they played,
maybe brains and speed will beat the marking and kicking
advantage that height gives Hawthorn.
My pick – Hawks by a goal or two.
