Port fined for runner's abuse

Struggling reigning premier Port Adelaide has been dealt another blow, fined $5000 by the AFL after a runner was found guilty of abusing an opposition player.
The Power were handed a ‘please explain’ from the AFL last week after runner David Arnfield was reported in the four-point loss to Geelong at AAMI Stadium in round five for shouting abuse at the Cats’ Henry Playfair.
But the AFL fined the Power $2500 for the offence and invoked a suspended $2500 sanction, imposed after round three for another offence by its runners, bringing the total penalty to $5000.
Under AFL regulations, runners are allowed to enter the field 'for the sole purpose of conferring briefly with players of his club (and) … must then immediately leave the playing surface'.
Port has managed just one win and a draw from six games this season.

Probably the most successful runner in footy history. Must have been the runner for that many premierships he would have lost count. Not suprising the Crows losers don't like him. Anyone would be jealous of the amount of success he's been involved in.
Nice one, topdon. Although with a nick like that, you should have a Wimbledon reference in there somewhere.

Over-rating the role of a runner a bit there aren't you? Coaches and players win premierships, runners just deliver the messages. "successful runner" ... now that's funny. That's like saying the hotdog salesman at the Gabba was the most successful hotdog salesman in the past 4 years.

Arnfield is THE most Passionate Port Adelaide person I have ever met in my life, and as a runner he can't help but do what most supporters would do as a runner.
He's as close to a sunday local suburban kids game-runner I have ever met. Top bloke, Honest as they come and funny as.

Over-rating the role of a runner a bit there aren't you? Coaches and players win premierships, runners just deliver the messages. "successful runner" ... now that's funny. That's like saying the hotdog salesman at the Gabba was the most successful hotdog salesman in the past 4 years.

Finally David Arnfield is receiving the recogition (Hatred) in the AFL, that he commanded for so long at the Magpies in the SANFL. He'd be very proud.

Where Arnie rules is that not only do opposition players hate him, his own club's players hate him. Or at least treat him with a very bizarre form of 'respect'. :D
Altho it wasn't him that told Graham Cornes to "F*** off" after the 1990 GF. ;)

After being "luckly" enough to have spoken to this clown a few times; I can see why someone such as yourself would look up to him.

Difference here is that the AFL have the balls to fine and suspend people like Arnfield, unlike the SANFL that used to always turn a blind eye to Ports "ventures".
