View Full Version : Deledio+Tambling+Meyer vs Roughead+Franklin+Lewis
This pole has probably been brewing for a while now and while i know people get sick of polls i think this 1 would have to be one of the more interesting ones going around.
All the power to Richmond on there start to the season, it gives me far greater pleasure seeing them near the top of the ladder rather than Port or Essendon or Collingwood. No doubt they have a stronger list and probably there gameplan suits there side more so than what Clarksons suits Hawthorn at the moment. I have said from the start that Richmond will have a better season than Hawthorn and there list is better, BUT when it comes to drafting i think there no good.
Hawthorns drafting over the years under Turnball have been horrid no questioning that, but i think Richmonds under Hutchy,Miller,Frawley (lets face it they where the ones that really made the decisions) have been abysmal. Im not gonna write on about names from both clubs because we could do it for years.
This year however i think both clubs have recruited well in the draft and Pre season draft, i do though think Richmond have once again been outplayed by other clubs come November.
Deledio is a star and will hold the other 2 up , while Tambling will be electric he will be equally pathetic (in my view) while Meyer well yeah who is he ;) (i know who he is im just taking the ********).
So heres the poll, what 3 would you prefer if you had your chance to selectt either trio?.

Only because 2 of them are KPP which are a lot rarer than midfielders.

I'll take the hawks lot only because of what i have seen so far. Deledio hasn't had a great game yet and tambling and meyer haven't had much opportunity, whereas the hawks 3 have all been good.

haven't seen much of meyer so hard to comment. Franklin and roughead are going to be so important to us so there is no way i'd trade our picks for their's as we haven't got a forward line, but have some midfielders in Hodge Mitchell Bateman and now Lewis, so I think who were drafted was perfect for what we want. Richmond have Richo and Nathan Brown so probably didn't need Key Position us much as us, and got Deledio Tambling and Meyer. Think Franklin gives us the edge at this stage, but I'm sure Tiger supporters will disagree.

Tambling was NO.1 In my view. Which he will show winning the Rising starr award this year. Book mark it.
Lids a player who has ownly just turned 18 has everything going for him.
Meyer Looks to have a very creative side to him with skills that will tear sides apart.

Hawks option as Carlton need players of that size but Brisbane would probably take and need the Richmond one.

The Rising Star award is over-rated. Fact is it's these player's first years of footy. Some develop quicker than others, some later. A lot of players that are nominated turn out as very good quality players anyway.

For what Hawthorn needs, Roughead, Franklin and Lewis by the length of the Flemington straight. Lewis will be a gun and could well turn out the best mid form the draft, add on to that the 2 best KPP's in Roughy and Buddy. In fact, I'd prefer Joshy Thurgood over Meyer. Will be a crucial part of our team in years to come. Richmond have got 2 beauties as well though.

All will be good future players, if Richmond would have of drafted Franklin that'ed of been awsome, but I don't think Roughead wasn't worthy of pick 2, hoping Pattison will be better. Lewis can find the pill for sure and always will be able to, but Deledio, Meyer and Tambling are more classy than him.
Remember this is from a baised Richmond perspective, but I think theres some truth in what I've said. ;)

Think the fact we got Lewis made our choices turn out well. Hard nosed midfielder who looks like a ball magnet with 22 possessoins on debut. Good that Franklin has got all the attention as it takes the pressure off Roughead with the no 2 tag, and he can just concetrate on getting himself ready to play, he'll be good for us.

I'm with you on this one.
Depends on the team you had before the draft for eg:
Collingwood would love to have the Richmond trio to add some pace and class into their midfield.
Whereas Hawthorn needed who they drafted. No doubt the Hawks were wary of drafting another skinny mid ala Bling ( who i believe will be a very good player). If Pattison comes on for the Tiges then they will be justified in taking three smalls. But for the record i'm very happy with our trio as i'm sure are the Tiges.

hate to say it mate but that kind of remark make it seem like you also think hawks made the wrong decision which i actually disagree with both hawks and tiger got what THEY wanted/needed in terms you guys will have a forwad line in the future and we will have a gun midfield in the future thats all that matter not any of this comparing crap come on guys look at how pathetic this is on both the tigers and hawks supporters
I was gonna throw in Griffin and Williams from the Doggies just to take the focus of this whole Richmond hate Hawthorn and vice versa stuff. I like the 3 players from both sides, i mean ive only seen Meyer once and that was againts Springvale and to me he does look very raw so it was to tell early.
Footyman said to me at the game that he is very frustrating as he has all the talent in the world but often goes walk abouts for long periods. From what i saw when the kid has the ball looks impressive but at this stage probably has a bit to learn, no doubt he will end up good. On the Skill level of both Meyer and Lewis, how can you split them or even give Meyer the edge? I know Lewis has made a couple of foot skill errors but generally his field kicking is of a similiur standard to Luke Hodge.
This isnt about Richmond vs Hawthorn its about 2 bottom clubs selections with there first 3 picks. I can gurantee that next if Collingwood and Essendon finish last and 2nd last there will comparisons make in the similiur way this had been made. Get over the thing about these 2 clubs hating eachother, i just like to compare young players because A: they where taking early B: Its interesting and C: i hate Richmond :D

Totally agree. Who in hell cares who is better, and more to the point, who cares who most posters on this forum think are better? I had a gut full of the Hodge/Ball/Judd crap, and now it looks as though we are going to keep reading this garbage about Deledio and company.
It's not about individuals, it's about team balance, and if a club needs a certain style of player then that is who will be chosen. End of story.

this is pretty juvenile...
even judging chris judd NOW is pretty stupid. all it takes is ONE unfortunate accident, and a year long injury, with complications reduces a champion to a infrequently playing, baggage-carrying wreck.
that said, i'd want judd at the tiges. and he will be there. he'll finish his career at rfc. i went to school with his best friend from TAC footy. i didn't know that until i bumped into him. seems like he's 'sold' on the WA way of life, but will come to his senses in his mid-to-late twenties. we'll get him. i'm personally convinced of it. nothing concrete, just a feeling in my waters...
besides, 'flashy' rookies almost always end up nothing special. the mcadams and several big essendon duds (o'connor and cummings) come to mind. they tend to burn out way too fast.
that said, lewis and buddy do look bloody good.

Meyer and Franklin can't get a game in the firsts.
Tambling and Roughead can't get much of the ball but are using it well.
Lewis and Deledio are getting a reasonable amount of ball, and I'll leave it to you about how useful their disposals are.
All things considered, it is neck and neck, and it wont be until next year some time we really have a clear idea of where they are at.

that is not the issue in question. we are not interested what will happen in a few yeaes time, only what is going on at the moment. right now, the hawthorn trio are better than the richmond trio. nobody gives a rats clacker about the future in the context of this thread.
anyway, don't make such bold statements regarding the future when in reality you have no :D:D:D:Ding clue, just like everybody else.
