What type of ruckman would you prefer as your #1 ruckman?
Ruckman #1: Has a 40% hitout to advantage record, 40 hitouts per game, but takes 1-2 marks per game, has 1-2 handballs per game, 1-2 kicks per game. Cannot play in any other position besides ruckman.
Ruckman #2: Has a 30% hitout to advantage record, 25-30 hitouts per game, but also takes 6-8 marks per game, 4-5 handballs per game and has 7-8 kicks per game. Can play up forward or down back.
Let it go, just let it go....

I'm not naming names at all, I'm simply asking what the general BigFooty community would prefer between these two different types of ruckmen.
I'd rather neither - the Jeff White/Spida Everitt type. Someone who'll constantly rack up hitouts, but also dominate around the ground.

I would like the tallest, heavist ruckman in the league who doesn't play if it rains, gets heaps of hitouts when he does, but has a hit out to advantage rate of about 7%. I would also like him not to be able to mark.
hangon, we've got one.

Knobel has never got 40 hitouts, ackland is beating him at the moment in hitouts anyway.
oops no names were mentioned then, just swap knobel with ruckman #1 and Ackland with Ruckman #2 ;)

It is sad that you are so insecure in your own opinions that you must seek the 'Mass Opinion' of the faceless souls who post on a meaningless messageboard to feel your weak opinion is justified.
Prefer a ruckmen who is 50/50 in terms of hitouts with his opponent, can take marks at times around the ground (preferablly from kick-ins), but more importantly, can drift forward to put pressure on the opposition defence.

Is that because he was beaten by Knobel ?
What game times did they ruck in the other games ?
What are the numbers you are using for comparison ?

Also, referring to your post before, how is my opinion on Ackland being better than Knobel weak, if the vast majority of people agree with it?

I think it all boils down to whether you want to sacrifice a seat on the bench for ruckman #1 when he's not rucking. It also keeps him fresh and ready to go whenever needed.
In a strong side, you want everyone to have full usefulness, because any less than that is wasted space. In a building or weak side the 'extra' spot taken by the ruckman on the bench would normally go to someone who isnt too good anyway.

Agreed, they are the best 2 ruckmen in the comp so why would you not want them
Mine would be 1 part John Nicholls, 1 part Polly Farmer, 1 part Crackers Keenan, 1 part Simon Madden
(basically bulky, well skilled, angry and versatile both up forward and in the middle).
